This May Save Your Life!
Book Review
How Dangerous Men Think
And how to stay safe for life
By Brent Sanders
The sub title of this book is “A book every woman should read.” The blurb on the back covers adds, “No matter what your age, this is a book no woman should be without.” I couldn’t agree more!
Brent Sanders is an ex policeman who has spent 15 years studying the way sex offenders think. These days, he teaches women how to keep themselves safe. He is passionate about what he does, and believes whole-heartedly that women have a lot of power when it comes to keeping themselves safe. He quotes a lot of research in the course of the book that backs up his point of view. It is his mission to help women believe that they can and should defend themselves against sexually aggressive men.
Brent explodes a lot of myths – first and foremost the myth that women can avoid being hurt by not provoking their attacker. He also looks at the myths surrounding so-called date rape – his explanation of what does and does not constitute sexual assault is a real eye-opener! Every woman needs to know her rights and very few do when it comes to this category of offence.
The most disturbing topic he tackles is that of gang rape – this has to be every woman’s worst nightmare. In this chapter, as in every chapter in the book, he gives straightforward, practical, workable advice about which strategies are likely to be effective and which aren’t.
I heartily recommend this book. Every woman should read it – and then lend it to her daughter, her mother and her best friend. It is very empowering – and just may save your life.
