Walking Your Blues Away
Just occasionally a book exceeds all expectations. “Walking Your Blues Away” by Thom Hartmann is one of those books. I saw it on the library catalogue and decided to reserve it on a whim – it was one of those impulses that has more than repaid itself. When I got the call to collect it I was handed a slim volume with a photo on the cover of a girl walking into a field of long golden grass. It was sub titled “How to Heal the Mind and Create Emotional Well-Being.”
I was expecting a folksy little book filled with homespun platitudes, but when I started to read it I found a really interesting and well reasoned explanation of why the positive application of walking therapy to life’s traumas really works. The author cites research going right back to the birth of modern psychotherapy, and makes an excellent case for his method of healing emotional distress.
If you’ve tried everything else, want to avoid drugs, or want to take positive steps to take charge of your own emotional well-being, then I really recommend taking a look at this book. It’s so simple it seems almost too good to be true. But some of the best solutions are often the most effective. What have you got to lose by trying it? Worst case scenario is you’ll lose some weight and get fitter!
