YOU ARE WHAT YOU THINK
To be happy with your life it does not really matter in what kind of house you live, or what kind of car you drive, nor if you look like a super model or a million bucks. At the end of the day how you feel about yourself and if you are really happy or not all depends in WHAT YOU THINK.
In cognitive psychology there is a distinction between the event and the interpretation of the event. Reality is perceived by different people in very many different ways according to their own belief systems. Take the latest speech by President Obama, for example. The optimistic feel that finally we are going in the right direction to achieve some peace in this world, the skeptics raise their eyebrows and so forth, and so forth.
How you perceive reality is all that matters for your own internal satisfaction.
It is the typical distinction between the half full or half empty cup of your life.
Your thoughts determine your emotions.
In Buddhism beings have ten basic LIFE CONDITIONS.
The lowest state is called Hell. In this state people hate every one, including themselves, and want to destroy every thing, even their own lives. Hitler is an excellent example.
The highest state is called Buddhahood. People in this state are defined by their sense of compassion for every one and live in total bliss. Just like JC.
Both extremes are part of our human nature.
So, how can you change the way you think?
The power of AFFIRMATIONS comes to the rescue.
I read by someone that for an affirmation to start to take hold in our subconscious a mental technique is to repeat it 40 times during 40 days.
I have not tried that yet. It takes discipline and perseverance.
I am trying to decide which affirmations to try first.
As I am single and really have no immediate desire of having a partner, simply because I do not know any one that even interests me, I tried starting with:
"I am ready to receive Love and meet the love of my life."
And I stopped and said to myself, "But I am not ready!"
This feeling of contrary to fact rings like a buzz in your head. Your mind takes control and sends this message in flashing red lights: "This is so stupid..."
Discipline and perseverance.
So I am going to try this experiment and observe what happens.
I invite you to join me.
Please, write in a comment what would be your most powerful affirmation.
Remember affirmations need to be expressed in positive affirmative terms. So "I want to loose weight" for example is not a positive affirmation because the words used "loose" and "weight" are not positive words at all. "I do not want to be fat!" is another inadequate affirmation because it is not an affirmation, but indeed a negation, and it has the F word in it.
"I have a slender sexy body" is a powerful affirmation. It immediately creates a visual image in your head of you the way like you want to be. Yes, it feels contrary to fact, but I am willing to try it.
I went to a seminar with one of the contributors of the film The Secret of the Law of Attraction, and he said that the power of affirmations and the Law of Attraction is that thoughts need to be accompanied by actions. "Act as someone who is already there" he said. Act the way people with slender sexy bodies act.
Mmmm... I am going to the swimming pool to do some aquatic power walking right now!
I feel sexy already.
So, what would your Affirmations be?
Please, join me in this venture. Let's give each other support and compare notes.
Blessings of Peace, Love & Light,
Iris
