Should we fear the Dark Side?
Writing this blog is wadding into the politically incorrect waters of the New Age.  As a child struggling to understand my perceptive abilities, the dark side was obvious.  There were good beings, angels, guides and benevolent relatives who had crossed over, and there were demons, parasites and haunting ghosts.

When I got older and began to study different philosophies and religions, I found many New Agers were comfortable with Monism.  Monism is the idea that everything in the universe originates or is sustained from a single source, whether this is viewed as a Theistic God or an impersonal force.  Many Monists want to believe there is not dark side, there is no evil in the world.  And yet all we must do is look out into the world and our personal lives and we can see destructive forces and people.

I for one relish in plain speech.  While I love high-minded intellectual discussion, I think some people use big words to confuse others into thinking they are superior.

Almost everyone, when discussing daily life, will confess that life seems dual in nature.  Most have tendency to divide things into oppositesThe Ancient Mystics divided them this way:

  • Wealth / Poverty
  • Wisdom / Foolishness
  • Fruitfulness / Childlessness
  • Life / Death
  • Dominion / Dependence
  • Peace / War
  • Beauty / Ugliness

Many psychics that I have personally spoken with, admit that they have encountered negative entities.  They usually keep this information to themselves.  And upon seeing how unpopular the idea of anything negative is within the New Age community, I can see why.

Some folks make it there purpose in life to discredit and mock whomever would try to warn people about the dark side and help them protect themselves.  They some how think that if they just ignore the negatives of life, they will magically go away.  This rarely happens.

The dark side of life does exist
.  However I do not think this is something to be feared.  Fear causes more problems than is solves.  Faith in the justice of God and the power of good can be powerful weapons against negative entities, discouragement and the vicissitudes of life.

One fascinating philosophical question many ask is: why would God create or allow 'evil' to exist?  I for one, believe that we humans have existed with God from the Beginning, even if we were unorganized intelligences.  This mortal life is a school, a training ground.  And in order to grow and become more like God, we must experience opposition.  For without sadness, could we know happiness?  Without pain, could we know pleasure?  Without sickness, could we really understand and appreciate health?

Many of the greatest Leaders have experienced heavy opposition and learned amazing lessons from it.  Indeed, gems of wisdom can be taken from heartache, setbacks, disappointments and even disasters.  While I wouldn't recommend willing seeking any of these, we should not shy away from the challenge either.  We can overcome the negatives of life, and even the dark side of spirituality.

I believe in a loving God of goodness.  However, I also think our Heavenly Parents are far wiser then us, and in their infinite wisdom, know we must experience both good and evil.

I agree with this! I hope I never stop learning! All your posts are well written and make a lot of sense!
