I am reposting this to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving. It was suggested to me that I "copied" this from somewhere; however, I assure you it is a product of my little brain. Enjoy! (and perhaps some of you can even relate to it!)
Twas the day of Thanksgiving,
And all through the markets...
people were stuffing their carts,
and the lining in their pockets.
Not a bird in sight!
at least one that was worth cooking,
all of the aisles were bare,
and I was sick of looking.
What to do,
what could I possibly make?
Without a Turkey,
There's not much to bake...
When what to my wandering eyes should appear?
Marie Calendar's frozen dinners!
So what if they'd been there all year?
I grabbed up ten, feeling this would suffice.
To compensate for lack of food,
I'd just be extra nice.
My guests were arriving,
all smiles and cheer!
What the hell to do
now that they're here?
The oven was boasting
a fresh turkey smell
I was hoping for the time
that all would go well.
I offered beverages
of the alcoholic kind
thinking this would appease them
and get food off their mind
It seemed to work,
as they were all laughs and smiles
No one noticed that I was frantically
tossing out foil by the miles.
I dished out the dinners into
separate serving dishes
Hoping that somehow
it would fulfill Thanksgiving wishes.
When the last bite was eaten,
and the table was cleared
my guests stood up
and my efforts were cheered.
"What great food! We had no clue
You are a wonderful Chef
Our applause is your due."
I took it all in, and smiled real broad
do they really need to know
that it was a Thanksgiving fraud?
As the last guest was leaving,
She leaned over to my ear
"I saw the garbage, but it's okay, My Dear"
She explained to me in a very soft tone
that it's not about the food,
No matter how good -
It is all about not being alone.

Happy
Thanksgiving to you all - May you spend the Holiday full of laughter,
