AVOID THE PANIC ATTACK!

December 4th! Only 20 Shopping days left until Christmas. Don't panic, you can do it. Make a list and check it twice! (Sorry for the borrowed line). How in the world can you manage to do EVERYTHING that needs to 'get done' before the big day arrives? Here are just a few ideas for you!

  • Break your list up into categories. Family - and what you want to spend on those members of your family. Hey, family is family and you want to put thought into those gifts. Find out a few things that each member wants, then go from there. Next are Great Friends, and what you want to do for them, and finally, those Need to Acknowledge Friends.
  • Now for those "Need to Acknowledge" friends, how about a Christmas card?  Not E-cards, but mailing out a thoughtful Christmas card? It's easy to stick a 5 or 10.00 gift card in there. That's a nice way of saying "I'm thinking of you".
  • For your  Good friends on your list, a gift basket that you put together can  look like a million bucks if you do it right. There are some great wines that are under 10.00, pack in a box of gourmet crackers, some cheese, and if you're really adventurous, add a couple of wine glasses. Wrap in cellophane, top with a bow and there ya go!
We all have a tendency to get carried away this time of year with shopping til we drop, frantically trying to get things done. You don't have to let all the "seasonal" things get to you. For me, baking is very therapeutic, and I love the aromas that infiltrate my house.

Take time for a bubble bath, or a long hot shower - whichever you prefer. Tea is soothing. Music is awesome for you to chill to. Try not to allow the "urgency" that advertisers and stores put in your head. And just ignore the big "countdown". Manage your time, you'll be fine.

Sending you angels,
Jane

# re: AVOID THE PANIC ATTACK!

Dear Jane:

I get a little crazy about getting my shopping done and secretly want to send poison pen letters who get all their shopping done in Oct!  I wait until the last minute and fret but I also bake a lot and give gifts from my kitchen to those I truly love and special friends.  So to admit I don't get frazzled would be a lie but I kind of like the  hustle and bustle also of the Holidays for it really fills my heart with joy most of the time.  Thanks for the great blog as usual.

Rosie, I feel that God created "POINT, CLICK, SEND" as a way to avoid the holiday rush :-)
