Essentially speaking- Essential Oils.......

An interesting and enlightening conversation occurred the other day at the local Herb Stop. The owner of this small, yet very energized space, engaged me in discussing essential oils. Her name is Leilah, a mystically charming and powerful demure person. Her smile lights up a room, and she has a heart of gold. She created this particular essential oil while she was in Jerusalem, and inspired by the Christ Consciousness. It’s called “Sacred Gifts”.

“The three Wise Men brought Jesus the gifts they did for a reason,” she told me, and, “I was inspired to create those gifts into something of use for people NOW.”  I purchased the ounce of oil, and took it home.

My lifepath is a 7. I took the eyedropper and dropped seven drops of it into my bath water. (I find meditating in the bath tub to be very effective). As I closed my eyes and inhaled slowly, visions came to me. Fabulous colors flashed through, and I could clearly feel myself being taken in by the wonder of this.

Did I create this experience, or is there something to “essential oils”? I know that for years, many advisors on Keen have praised the gifts that are received by using certain essential oils. I always just assumed that if we gave “power” to something, we would receive what we expected.

I could feel congestion, and a slight hint of a head cold coming to me. I put pure eucalyptus oil on a washcloth, and breathed it frequently, and visualized the oil clearing out my head and congested respiratory system. The breathing in of this oil worked just peachy on me, and within a day all my symptoms had disappeared.

I suppose the point that I’m trying to get across to you is just this: IF you hear something repeatedly; over and over again, THESE are messages from the Universe to TRY. Over and over I read and heard about essential oils, yet my mind was blocked in actually TRYING, summoning it up to something that was slightly less that Voodoo. Ahh, that cynical mind of mine. I wonder how much further I’d be if I had listened the FIRST time?

If this is your introduction to essential oils, I encourage you to dig deeper and find out more information about them.

Just a suggestion, It may work better in the bath if you mix it in a bowl of salt first. Otherwise sometimes it can float on the top instead of disolving in the water.

I use a fabulous massage therapist, known in the little village I live in as "Voodoo Vivian". She sent me home with some concoction she made especially for me that is truly my slice of heaven when I breathe it in. When she handed it to me she said, "Remember this feeling you have right now- you're calm, you're peaceful, and your mind is still. When you inhale this, you will get what you are now feeling." OK, power of suggestion? I don't care - it WORKS!!!

Thank you, Lexy - but I have a question - what is the salt supposed to do? Table salt, sea salt? And do I mix it in a bowl of water with this salt?

Dear Jane:

I have grown my own herbs for years and I mix them with essential oils to create my own blends also.  I also make wonderful soap using natural oils for scent.  I love the way natural oils can heal also.  Thanks for sharing with us for your blogs are always so wonderful.

Most essential oils do not mix well with water, and float to the top. If you take sea salt, and mix it in good, it takes care of that problem. Most essential oils are not good to put on your skin undiluted either. It is best to mix in some oil before applying to your skin. The exception is lavender essential oil, a dab on insect bites and blemishes helps them to heal faster, just don't use too much.

Lexy, I think you need to share more information about your experiences and uses for these in a blog! I'm a new convertee, therefore not as versed as you. I am sure that Keenites would appreciate it as much as I would!

Rosie: I have always grown my herbs for COOKING,(with the exception of lavender)and I would love to know some of your mixtures and how you make them! Good info for all from a future blog of yours?
