Interpreting Karma - How it Affects YOU
MY interpretation of Karma is this: When we do random acts of kindness, a Karma coin is deposited into our karma account. When we behave in a kind manner, show compassion, and don't participate in meaningless gossip, we get three or four Karma coins into the account. When we put our egos aside, and act with love we are rewarded with say, six or seven Karma coins into the account. All of these deposits add up to our advantage.
There is another Karma Coin box - the debt box. When we treat others with disrespect and disregard - we get 7 or 8 coins deposited into the debt box. When we are malicious and mean-spirited, 9 or 10 go into that debt box. When we allow our egos to rule our actions without respect or compassion for our fellow mankind, we get 15 to 20 Karma coins deposited into that box.
For the person that has a box full of debt, when Karma decides that it's time to pull out the stops and give just desserts to a person, they machine gun that person with all the debt they've built up. It hurts! (Visualize 10,000 coins hitting you all at once!) The person that was so rude, dismissing everyone as "beneath him/her" plowing forward as if they are invincible could be facing total financial ruin, losing friends, losing reputation, and possibly even losing loved ones. It's Karma's way of saying: "Let's start this round over, okay?"
It's not fun to watch, and when someone is receiving their share of Karma (even though it's by their own doing) - be compassionate. Sure, you could see it coming, because of the treatment of others that they gave to others, but you don't want to gossip about that person, or piously judge that person. Karma is the result of their action, and judging could possibly put Karma coins in your debt box!
Keep doing random acts of kindness. Keep your pride to yourself. Say "Thank You" to the Universe several times a day for the brilliant life you've been gifted, and especially be compassionate to your fellow humans. Peace begins one small step at a time.
