Painting by Number, Connecting the Dots, Smashing Pumpkins....

In a paint-by-number, the painting always comes out the same - even if you step outside the 'number' box and add some of your own personality, the painting is STILL going to be the same. The overall look and feel of it will STILL be the same. So, while you're desperate to do something different, sorry - it's STILL going to be the same. Regardless of what YOU do to try and change the canvas on a paint-by-number, it is STILL going to come out the same painting.

Ok, let me phrase it this way: Take this 2x4, and continue to hit yourself on the head with it - and no matter how many times you hit yourself with it, the relationship isn't going to change. However, if you take that same 2x4 and smash a pumpkin with it, the pumpkin changes....or, at least you'll have shards of pumpkin everywhere.

So, while it is true that a 2x4 can alter the dynamics of an object, don't let it be your soul. Because no one and nothing is worth that much of a sacrifice. And, if this makes sense to you, congratulations.

There it is:  Tuesday's Lesson. So be it.

Cheers,
Jane
