TWO MONTHS! and Celebrating!

Nicotine Free for TWO MONTHS! I'm quite proud of the commitment  I made to myself to stay away from smoking, and it's been Eight Weeks. I could not have done this without proper motivation, and strength from a higher source I know. But, gee it feels great to breathe! And I love not coughing on a consistent basis, and the FREEDOM- wow! I never realized what a ball & chain cigarettes were! It's a fabulous weight lifted off of me!

Of course, getting the motivation to quit took a long time. I finally did find motivation, but not for obvious reasons. Health issues are usually motivation enough, right?  Perhaps. But for me, primarily it is the fact that smoke from cigarettes is just ucky. Furthermore, a smoke-filled room makes my eyeballs water... which runs my makeup...and also damages my contact lenses. It just plain stinks.

Recently, Arizona jumped on the bandwagon and as of May 1, 2007, will become a no-smoking state. This was a motivator, too. Good grief, as a smoker I couldn't go anywhere and smoke.

As a non-smoker, I can now ENJOY so much more... like TASTE! Wow, everything tastes SO AWESOME. It's like my little tastebuds have been sleeping for a few years and are awakening to all kinds of wonderous sensations.

My sense of smell has totally gone through a wake up call, too! (Which can be a good thing, or not....depending on the aroma.)

And, no, I haven't gained weight. That's right, I'm holding steady. I immediately went on South Beach Diet (it's an AWESOME program) and I have managed to maintain my weight quite well. A little tip: Lipton makes green tea 'singles' - just add to bottled water. The mango/tangerine flavor is great!

My angels provide me with strength when my mind drifts to thinking about smoking again, so I really credit them with keeping me smoke free. They prefer smoke from incense, anyway...who can blame them?

I realize that merely "knowing" that cigarettes are not good for you isn't enough to make people stop smoking. So, here are some additional motivators:
  • at almost $7.00/per pack, you're going to save a boatload of money!
  • Your complexion is going to brighten up!
  • Your closet won't smell like a bar!
  • People will be able to SMELL that 80.00 per ounce perfume!

For those that are trying to stop, CONGRATULATIONS! For those that WANT to stop - Find what motivates you! For others that have managed to stop and stay off, what was your secret?

Congratulations!!  I am approaching 7 months of being smoke free, so I know just what you have been thru in the past few months! One of the things that helped me in the beginning was a www.quitnet.com.  They have this tracker thingy that tells you how many cigs you haven't smoked, how much $$ you saved, etc.  I never wanted my numbers to go back to 0, so it was a motivation for me.

Again, congrats!

Wow! 7 months! That's awesome! I really look forward to the time when I won't even think about how long it's been that I've not smoked! Thanks for the website, too!
Sending you angels,
Jane
