Yakkity Yak, Can't Take it Back.....
Don't ya just wish that you had a roll of duct tape with you at all times?
This way, if you start talking too much, someone could just lean over to you and
slap a big ole grey strip across your mouth? That action would certainly save a
lot of time and embarrasment...Seems the more words that tumble out, the deeper
the hole becomes until you find yourself so totally away from the original
point.... and then you're stuck. Inside a hole. Only wishing you had a roll of
duct tape. Many good uses for duct tape. That's for sure. And, the best one I
can think of is to just rip off a strip and smack it right over your own
mouth.
And isn't it funny that at the time - initially - you really think you're
making a grand point. Something profound. Enlightening. Wisdom. Oh, for sure....
then, wham. What happened to all that wisdom and profoundness? It got lost
inside the outer exteriors of all those verbs and adjectives that only puffed up
the original thought.
Speaking of original thought - you know there is no such creature. There
are only varieties of ways to present words. Perspectives of the same stuff,
only presented in such a way that when you read it, it resonnates with you. Then
you think, "wow. That blew me away".
So, back to duct tape. I'm thinking I could use at least 4 rolls of it, as
I sit inside this hole wondering if I'm ever going to get out. Of course time will be the buffer. Time and Patience - those words we all despise. And through these two remarkable things, I'll get out. I'll let silence suffice as the "Universal" elevator to take me to the first floor.
