Control Top Freakyhose
Hi again! In today's post, I'd like to talk about what I consider an American epidemic: Control Freakiness. Everyone knows at least one person who has to have everything just so.
My husband, a quiet artist, said something profound about Control Freaks.
He said, "Gee, there are so many other interesting things to want besides perfection."
That's too true, isn't it? But wanting something besides perfection means allowing a little air to blow through your life, and to bring with it the unexpected.
Instead of getting preachy, I'd like to tell you a short anecdote about myself that perfectly reflects my opinions about Control Freakiness. One of my pals loves to tell this story about me - and I never stop her!
I was walking through an art museum with two friends. We were enjoying the beautiful paintings and sculpture, when we saw a security guard approach us.
"Uh-oh," said my first friend. "He's going to tell me to get rid of my Coke."
"No, no!" said my second friend. "It's probably closing time. Let's go."
I said, "Relax! Let's see what he has to say."
And the guard walked right past us.
My friends and I continued enjoying the paintings and sculpture.
I guess I had a philosophy long before I knew it was a philosophy!
I believe that every once in a while, we benefit from waiting a beat, and letting life happen.
