Well, that title got your attention, didn't it?

Tuesday morning, March 27, and it's COLD here in Southern California.  Yes, I know we're spoiled, and anything warmer or cooler than about sunny and 72 is just not right!  But at the moment it's 53 and windy.  I'm a weather wimp!

Anyway, on to the subject that brought you here:  lying.  The reason I brought this up was I was just discussing this with a caller the other night. Everybody lies, even if it's just little white lies to be polite. Do we know when our callers or friends and family are lying to us?  Yes, many times we do.  Contrary to popular belief, we don't wander through life reading people's minds, but if we're tuning into a situation, things just don't ring true, we know. While we might have a bit of an advantage, all of us have been in situations where we know we're being lied to.  So, what to do about it? My take on it is this as follows - I know they're lying, they know they're lying. People don't generally enjoy being called a liar, even a liar.  So what do I gain other than momentary pleasure by calling them on it?  That's hardly worth alienating someone over.

So I guess my point is this - think before you speak.  Ask yourself what you wish to accomplish here, how is this going to make the other person feel, how will they react.  Is this what you really want?  Sometimes we just have to keep our eye on the ball, our goal, and let some of the petty grievances go. Remember, just because someone gets the last word, doesn't make them right.  And speaking of the last word, any thoughts or comments on this?  Feel free.
