Crash, Boom, Bang, the Winged God Flies Backward
Mercury is retrograde Friday, June 15, at 11 degrees in Cancer. It goes direct on July 10. How will this effect you?
"Astrologers know that three or four times a year, for a period of twenty-one days, there is a greater likelyhood that our plans may be thwarted. This is a thrice-yearly event that is said to throw schedules off kilter, derail the best laid plans, cast doubt on cherished dreams, create misunderstandings and doubt in personal relationships, and make computers malfunction and break down. Under it's influence, the daily commerce of everyday life slows down to a crawl and becomes tied up, and mired in confusion and anxiety, " writes Author Pythia Peay in Mercury Retrograde. She further states, " Taking three week 'time-outs,' several times a year to realign our souls with something more time-sacred and transcendent than out ordinary concerns may be one way to plug back into the ancient mythic template. By honoring retrograde Mercury, we can begin to mine this extraterrestrial terrain that lies buried beneath the tangled jungle of modern- day life."
Mercury is actually stationary retrograde at 11 degrees June 12, through the 19th of June. Another favorite writer, Carol Rushman describes Mercury stationing in Cancer or the Fourth House: "the mental energy will be sifted through the emotions rather than through the intellect. There is heightened intuition. Creativity is at an all time high, but over sensitivity must be guarded against Family and home projects bring great satisfaction. Crying for no apparent reason and emotional outbreaks are common."
The Mercury Retrograde stationary period is often the most significant, at the start, and then again the end of the retrograde period. So, do not be surprised if projects aren't stopped or slowed down altogether until around the period of June 10-15. Mercury could delay some situations for even longer, as it will not be back to 11 degrees, as it is today, until July 24. Mercury will goes through a Stationary retrograde period again before it moves forward from July 6-13, at 2 degrees in Cancer.
The New Moon falls at 23 degrees of Gemini, today, June 15, as well. New Moon's mark personal new beginnings, and this moon in Gemini has to do with information, talk, and expanding the thinking. As Mercury rules Gemini, it will take on added significance as Mercury goes retrograde the same day. Be careful the information you want to convey falls into the right hands. In other words, before you send your best friend the details of your hot date the night before make sure you type in the correct address, and don't hit 'entire list,' disseminating your personal information to everyone you know!! A Gemini New moon would be a good time to chat, network connect with people and ideas, and with Venus in Leo, and Mars in Aires it should be a great weekend for spontaneous activities--the latest movie, an unexpected party, dinner at the latest restaurant or nightclub, or calling up that potential somebody for an unexpected night on the town! Those signs most effected by this new Moon will be Gemini, Sagittarius, Pisces, and Virgo, or those with planets that will be aspected by Gemini.
During the retrograde period you may catch up with people from the past, past loves may resurface. It's all about the past, finishing up projects, reviewing, rewriting, re-organizing, re-connecting, re-anything. It's not the time to sign new contracts, purchase new items, or start new relationships or projects. The time for that will be about 3 weeks from now
