Final Full Moon: the Buildup
The year's final Full Moon occurs at 21 degrees of Gemini, on Friday, December 12, 2008 at 11:37 AM EST. Gemini rules travel, speech and is the natural ruler of the 3rd house of the mind, communication and speech, travel, neighbors, and immediate family members, so these areas will be highlighted. It opposes the Ninth house, the ruler of foreign matters, law, medicine, education, travel, and it relates to the larger, 'world' view, so these areas will be effected as well. This is a volatile moon, and we will see issues come to the surface and tempers flare, both on an individual level and on the world stage, as well. We start to feel the influence of the full moon at least 5-7 days before the full moon, so what I call 'the buildup' began about 4-5 days ago. What makes this full moon so volatile and changeable are the number of hard aspects that accompany this very changeable and potentially explosive full moon.
The Full Moon opposes Saturn at 21 degrees in Virgo, squares Uranus at 18 degrees in Pisces and opposes Mars at 18 degrees of Sagittarius. The combination is unpredictable, explosive, accident prone and dangerous, even deadly. With Saturn the energy is constrictive and frustrating at the same time. Not a time to be driving, with your focus on something else. Extra caution for all is advised in any kind of travel, and I would avoid dangerous areas and situations. Speech and communication of all kinds is highlighted as well and you may find yourself on the receiving end of a conversation with someone who is extremely frustrated and egos will be out in full force. You may feel this way yourself, and the best advice is to just cool your heels and let this energy pass, which it will do. If communication is important to you today, be prepared to say what you mean to say in a diplomatic manner or expect your words to be opposed. Otherwise, it is a time where you may have flashes of brilliance and insight, and a desire or possibility for debate. You may feel as though you are living by your wits. Events/people from the past may reappear and there will be a focus on duty and responsibility/obligations.
Additionally, there are 3 other major aspects that factor into this moon...Mars squares Saturn-a restrictive and limiting influence producing tension and anger. Patience is required, but there is a lot of energy to work hard to meet your goals. The combination of Mars and Saturn can indicate police and relates to military matters. It is a harsh and frustrating transit, and is indicative of hard even physical work.
Mercury enters Capricorn and conjuncts Pluto at 0 degrees.-This transit indicates sarcastic speech, issues that come to light or are revealed, and a day of intense, if not obsessive thought. On a collective level (US), we will receive news through the media involving the bailout of the auto industry, previously unknown issues will come to light and there will be heavy debate, and anger. Also news relating to business and jobs. Pluto rules the media and Tribune Publishing is bankrupt, and they have been mentioned as a victim in the evolving scandal of the Illinois Governor who is accused of trying to sell President-Elect Obama's Senate seat. Perhaps we will hear of the condition of other news outlets and situations relating to the media, and no doubt we will hear more about the Tribune's charges that the Illinois Governor threatened them economically . Mercury-Pluto deals with transportation, transportation problems and heavy, events that will come to light. On the individual level, your thoughts will not be surface or shallow, and possibly you will be occupied with a single thought throughout the day. Again, this transit urges caution in travel and we may see news relating to accidents, or accidental situations. There may be transportation problems/accidents. It is an excellent transit for research, or getting to the bottom of a question, although you may not like the answers if you force the issues today .A day made for research.
Mars squares Uranus at 18 degrees in Pisces-This is an explosive transit where we may expect the unexpected, and it is can also relate to violence or accidental situations.. People react as though their very life is at stake with this transit, and often wake up the next day with regrets. In any case, it is best to we wary of trouble, and it is another accident prone transit that is often seen in car wrecks.. If the energy can be harnessed to a creative purpose, much energy is available for accomplishment. On a world level, I expect to see/hear of violence in the news, and unusual weather conditions or natural disasters. Uranus rules airplanes and Monday December 8, CNN reported a military plane crashed into a San Diego neighborhood. Riots have occurred in Greece. I expect there will be more violence and confrontation of opposing groups. It is a time to be cautious and aware.
The best advise I can give anyone on this full moon is to be patient and let this energy pass. The highest and best use if this particular energy is to put it to use in 3rd or 9th house activities: writing, speaking, debating, brainstorming, researching, or simply looking back at past results to plan Individual effects of the full moon depend on each individual's natal chart. All full moons bring the possibility of positive change in the long run.
