Last week President Obama stated that he had 'glimmers of hope' relating to economic recovery in the US. Tuesday, in a speech to the American public Mr. Obama said he saw signs of progress, but the immediate future holds further job loss. He also said he was working to get credit flowing again to help businesses and families.

The President may see glimmers of hope, but as an astrologer, I believe the glimmers are tinged with what once spoken of as "exuberant optimism." This year, however, the US chart has Jupiter, the planet of expansion and benevolence in it's eighth house of taxes, mortgages, and other peoples's money. As I predicted in a previous newsletter I believe credit will free up for some people and businesses, and there will be advantageous mortgages and financing available to some, as well as tax credits and help for some homeowners. The key word here is some. I recently saw there is an $8,000 one time tax credit for first time home buyers, but I am not well versed on this matter, and anyone interested should seek professional tax advise.

As to further job loss the President is also correct.  Job loss is due to Saturn (the planet of restriction) in Virgo. Virgo is the natural ruler of the 6th house of work and jobs, as well as health.  This cycle began in September of 2007 and will not end until July of 2010 when it enters Libra for the final time. The last time Saturn was in Virgo was November of 1977-September of 1980.  I do not recall these years bringing job growth, and the US was officially in a recession in 1980.  Historically, recessions actually begin before the government announces them. The best news here is that we are about 75% finished with Saturn in Virgo, and these times will end, as all times do, and we look for a better day..

So, we are bailing ourselves out with other people's money (the American taxpayer) and the U.S. national debt  is financed on a daily basis by the governments of China and a host of oil-exporting states, among others (also other people's money). Jupiter is moving through the 8th house of the US and will soon be conjunct Neptune, the planet of illusion, delusion, smoke and mirrors, the highest highs and the lowest lows. This occurs on May 10th-May 23rd, and  again May 31-June 12, and is  in and out of this transit much of this year. What this represents may be a beautiful illusion that business is back to normal, when it is not.  But then, markets are always driven by two emotions: fear and greed, and American's and the world are hopeful for some news that may lift us up and out of the economic rut we have been in for some time now. But, we don't need to be lied to, and we don't need anymore scams, and herein lies the problem. As a collective, we must watch things carefully.

The Jupiter-Neptune conjunction is not all bad.  As I said, Americans need to believe in the economy again, and it all begins in the mind, and with the mood of the people. It may produce some form of unusual art, movies, and it should bring attention to charities and humanitarian groups and organizations. There will be a new awakening/interest in religion, and/or metaphysics. Creative people will benefit.  The other side of this transit means that what appears to be, may not be all real, and there will be propaganda. While I am no financial expert, my advice is simple:, don't rack up more debt than you can pay thinking the economy will take off again as it has in recent years. I believe it can be fixed, but it will take time.

Jupiter-Neptune also deals with drugs and alcohol.  We are likely to see an increase of drinking/drugs as people look for their own light at the end of the tunnel in whatever way they may find it.  There will likely be news about drug companies, pharmaceuticals, and there will be unusual weather conditions involving water. There may be more banking scandals, scandals with the bail out money and credit card companies, and the outrageous fees they are charging. The weather is likely to involve flooding and destruction of property.  This transit also involves infectious diseases, and we are likely to hear news on that front, and I can only offer caution in this area as well.

There are 2 charts that are debated as being the correct one for the US. Based on Jupiter conjuncting the moon of the US in Aquarius at 27 degrees in the Sagittarius chart, we could see or hear of an upturn in the housing market late spring and toward the end of the year.In the Gemini chart the conjunction will occur for the 2ond time in the fall of the year September -November. In my predictions I simply look at the Sun of this country, which is Cancer.  Some statistics have shown housing sales up slightly. But today CNN is reporting foreclosures up 24% Again, the illusive Neptune at 26 degrees of Aquarius is also conjuncting the moon within 7 degrees in either of the 2 charts. Confusion, potential delusion, and the possibility of more scams emerging in  the housing, mortgage, and real estate markets will likely occur.

So, American's should look to the 8th house for benefit this year: tax credits, mortgages and credit if you have a good credit score, and I believe there will be opportunities to refinance mortgages for some. Zero per cent credit cards are still available if you have the right credit score.   And the President's bail out may stimulate the economy some.  In January 2010 Jupiter (planet of expansion) enters Pisces, and by March of 2010 Jupiter trines the Sun of the US.  Jupiter-Sun deals with expansion and opportunity, and I see these days ahead as the start of better times for the US and the world.

Horoscope of USA ยท USA natal chart

There is an ongoing controversy regarding the natal chart of the USA. However, most astrologers use either the Sagittarius Rising chart (that seems to work better when it comes to rectification and is supported by historical evidence) either the Gemini Rising chart (which seems to provide a better description of the American character).
