"It feels like anything is possible now." These words were spoken by Oprah, on the November 5th, eve of the election of Barrack Obama.
On January 6, 2008 Jupiter moved into Aquarius, and Barrack Obama was inaugurated on January 20, 2009 as the 44th President of the USA. He was experiencing his Jupiter return, which is the return of Jupiter, (planet of expansion) to it's placement at birth, beginning a a new 12 year cycle which often coincides with major events in a person's life. President Obama's Jupiter is at 0 degree's of Aquarius in his 12th house, which says to me that he is indeed fulfilling his destiny, as he told us in one of his 'turning point speeches,' that he was, in essence born to be a 'uniter' of people, the son of a black Father and white Mother. The 12th house is often considered to relate to destiny, or what some people call karma, or fate, and President Obama has stepped onto the world stage to fulfill the greatest destiny and opportunity that an individual could imagine, and I believe he told us the truth when he spoke of his destiny as a 'uniter.'
Jupiter is the planet of expansion and gain, and it falls into the 8th house of the US, a Country ruled by the sign by Cancer.The 8th house relates to credit, mortgages and taxes, and other people's money. It is the house of death and renewal. The sign Aquarius is the natural ruler of the 11th house of friends, hopes and wishes, as well as the group collective or brotherhood. The collective has spoken, and the old order is out. So, as the new year begins, American's should look to the area of taxes, mortgages and refinancing, and a reopening of some of the credit markets, as well as start of the overhaul of healthcare as to where we can expect to find savings and financial benefit in the New Year. As the 8th house relates to Other People's Money, we, the taxpayers will bail ourselves out with money from the collective kitty. The question is who will oversee it and how will it be paid back, and will it be enough, after 15 years of Pluto in Sagittarius.
Sagittarius is ruled by lucky Jupiter. But the dark side of expansion and optimism is greed, over exuberance, financial irresponsibility, and of course corruptness. Money and financial gain has been the corrupter of men since the dawn of time. There is nothing wrong with wealth, but when the dark side of 'expansion' takes over and runs rampant, the phrase "absolute power corrupts absolutely" comes to mind. That era is now over as of November 28, 2008, and it will be another 360 years or so before Pluto returns to Sagittarius.
The first bailout in late 08' was passed on a retrograde Mercury, meaning that it is flawed. I predicted this in a newsletter written on October 4, 2008 and today Congress continues to work on legislation for additional bailout money and a financial stimulus package to prop up the economy. Unfortunately, we have also learned that much of the money that was originally spent and voted on in the first bailout has been under no or little oversight and funds have not been distributed where they should have been, and the homeowners with bad loans, or who are unemployed still continue to suffer with little help, thus far.
Mercury goes direct on Monday February 2 at 21 degrees of Capricorn. Perhaps Congress, and the powers that be in the US will now take more time, and be more deliberate in how any additional bailout funds are spent, as caution is emphasized as Mercury goes stationary direct in Capricorn on Feb 2 throughout the next week. We will all start to collect our thoughts a little more clearly, and the negative side to Mercury in Capricorn would relate to negative thinking both collectively and individually, as well. Organization can be carried out effectively, and President Obama certainly appears to have a strong suit in that area. Thoughts of business, work, career and jobs will be all consuming. It is a time to plan, organize and do some serious thinking about our future.This is the highest and best use of this energy.
On January 30, we entered the 2ond of 5 Uranus-Saturn oppositions (see newsletter published on September 26, 2008) Saturn opposing Uranus relates to a complete change or overthrow of an existing order. This opposition became exact the first time on November 3, 2008, 2 days before America elected it's first black President, along with a Democratic Congress. America was tired of the old order, and the world has reacted. The opposition lasts from January 30- February 12 and will bring about more change and the overthrowing of existing conditions throughout the world. It also squares the Mars of the USA, creating especially explosive situation, agitation, perhaps violence, and social unrest, or accidents. Change will occur again during this period, although not in an easy or simple manner. As the Saturn-Uranus oppositions effects the USA and the world, it also effects our individual charts and don't be surprised if you don't feel especially agitated during these remaining 12 days. It is a time to take a deep breath, think about what we are thankful for, and try and find as much individual peace, harmony and relaxation as possible and let the energy pass.
Finally, on February 9, we experience the 2ond of two powerful eclipses in 2 weeks, this one at 20 degrees of Leo. Likely we will hear more news about the economy, jobs, further bailouts using taxpayer's money. As the eclipse opposes Neptune at 23 degrees of Aquarius, I expect to see confusion, misunderstand, lack of clarity, fear and fogginess, and possibly lies.. It is possible that misdeeds will be revealed at this time. We will experience unusual weather conditions. Author Celeste Teal calls this eclipse, "Stirs Insurrection." In her book she states, " Leo brings world leaders into view. Threats are posed. Eclipse in fixed star Algenubi: He who rends, suggests focus upon, or pressure from someone of artistic expression, yet of potentially brutish influence. Neptune is Lord of the Eclipse, social movements. Unrest Abroad. For USA, public opinion fluctuates regarding work conditions, health services, and children's welfare. The government is beset by troubles,legislation is confused, failure of measures. Financial fluctuations. Nutritional and health concerns. Hospital resources in question. The eclipse of emphasis for Afghanistan, Iraq, Egypt, the UK, Japan. Mexico, Manhattan, the NYSE, and the White House."
All eclipses bring change and have the potential for positive movement. With this eclipse in Leo, events should unfold in a grand manner. Hold on to your hat, it's going to be an interesting time in our history.
