Medical Care For Children Should Be An Option For EVERYBODY!!
Economic times are tough for many these days. Many are finding it hard to make ends meet. My heart goes out to all of you. One thing that particularly bothers me is that there are many children in need of various medical treatments that are falling through the cracks. There are various reasons why many are without health insurance and can't afford health care for their children, and just don't qualify for assistance. Many parents find that their children need some type of ongoing treatment that is not affordable. Parents are doing their best do stretch their budgets to take care of medical needs for their children. Imagine some unforeseen circumstances and not being able to meet your monthly obligation of medical expenses. Imagine a doctor threatening to discontinue treatment of your child, because you can't meet the huge monthly expense. This is what some are facing these days. Unfortunately, I didn't go to medical school and am not in a position to give treatment of any kind to your children. However, I am asking the medical care professionals to have a heart as children are innocent. It is not the child's fault the parents are struggling to make ends meet. No one is asking that doctors start running charity clinics or anything of the sort. However, they can be in the position to make other alternatives. A doctor has the capability to look at the budget and see if they can negotiate a reduced rate, or accept lower payments. Discontinuing treatment for children in need should never be an option. My heart sank today when I heard a doctor was trying to force a parent discontinue medical treatment for their child because of money issues. My heart went out to the parents. This is an emotional issue because I do not have medical insurance, and have also struggled to pay medical bills for my children. Last year my son went through eye therapy that was rather expensive. I could not imagine what would have happened, if right in the middle the eye doctor refused treatment because I was late paying. In fact the eye doctor was nice enough to work around my budget and take lower payments. There are alternatives and trying to belittle the parents to pay up when they can barely afford treatment is not it.
