Pointless Blogging
It has come to the attention of many the repostings of  the same blog throughout the day. This practice takes away from many blogs their specific impact. We would encourage the selfless act of minimizing these post so that others may have the opportunity to share their wisdom.  When the same blog is reposted so many times,so very frequently in one day,  all the other blogs get buried. Others are now finding it a necessity to repost their blogs, after they become lost in the shuffle.
We are trying to ask the ones who do this nicely to stop.

Please remember keep your comments polite and respectful.

Dear Lexy:

This has become offensive to me and others.  I would think they would take notice before they find out they have alienated those they want to impress.

I've got to hand it to you, Lexy, you've got a good point here. I almost get the impression that there are folks who don't entirely view their blogs as a communication tool beyond it's potential function as an advertisement.

I'm not complaining about that or saying that there's anything wrong with that. But I'd figure if you were to be using your blog as an advertisement, you would put some variety in and try to engage your audience some. Otherwise it becomes like the ads you see on tv, visual noise that you ignore as you are looking for something of real interest.

That, however, is just my $0.02 on the topic. Great post as always, Lexy. :)

Totally agree!  I understand the marketing aspect of blogging, however, in the business world, ONE sales pitch per day is acceptable; TWICE at the absolute most. After that it gets to be more of an annoyance or can be construed as harassing and then the oppostie of what the poster is attempting occurs. If this were TV, we could tape the blogs and skip over those blogs that are not to our liking like you can on TiVO  and get to the meat of the blogs we enjoy.  But since this isn't, we need to be considerate of others. OK, no more iced tea for me after 3:00 pm.......

Someone should realize that others are giving them attention all right but the wrong kind.  They are coming across as juvenile, desperate for attention and rude. When they overlook others they appear as very uncaring and that is not someone I would call no matter how cheap and whatever freebies they offered. Good blog Lexy keep up the good work.

Clients are being put off reading the blogs now because of multiple repostings throughout the day.  Yes the blogs were set up as an advertising tool but there is advertising your services and ramming it down people's throat, and we are beginning to choke on it.

There are many readers who are guilty of same, multiple postings of their blog repreatedly during the day which of course is their own business but it is rather annoying to witness, like competitive blogging for sport...

Brava, Lexy for your post and to everyone else who commented. It's really getting annoying.  I have people (clients and non-clients alike) who pop in to read my blogs as well as the blogs of other readers who actually write thoughtful, interesting articles on genuine topics.
If someone wants to blog strictly to advertise, I suppose that's their business. But the constant reposting of the same "ads" over and over throughout the day are irritating, rude, and clearly done to "push" other blogs down and then off the front page.

BTW, I actually coined a word for it and submitted it to a slang dictionary:

"clogging" (monopolizing a blog site with multiple, duplicate postings) and "clogger"
(a person who does this).

Love and peace,
Dona

I agree and I went through the posts yesterday and if you did the same you might be surprized at who you see reposting pretty frequently.  So lets be polite and as my mother used to say "your business ends at the end of your nose."  I guess this goes for me too, LOL

Who gets to decide or judge whether the post is pointless or not?

I agree with Lexy.  Some of these 'blogs' are becoming more like spam.

I like to read the blogs because many offer good, helpful information.  Others may be provocative and can lead to healthy debate and the sharing of ideas.  But I too am getting annoyed at seeing the same old, 'Free Minutes' or 'How to Win Back Your Ex' that's been posted over and over again.  What is even more annoying with many of these 'spam blogs' is that when you go to read them there is no useful information -- it's just a 'call me for a reading' sales pitch.

Blogs are intended to be a soft sell.  If you post a thought provoking blog, or a helpful tip on how to make my life better, I'm much more likely to call you instead of the guy or gal who keeps posting the spam blogs.

My two cents worth.

Lexy,

Once again you state what others are thinking and feeling BIG TIME!
The content never changes and the comments are mostly the authors.
The purpose is obviously to solicit services and attract business. May even be to fill the "most viewed" & "most comments" boxes with their blogs to again attract more attention/business.
Makes me wonder what callers are thinking when they see it again & again & again & again.....
Any clients out there ...please chime in on this subject...

Dona...I LOVE YOUR WORD  "clogger" that is absolutely perfect!
Thanks for making me smile in the face of annoyance :)

When did the blogs become billboards? I see the same billboards each time I look. It turns me off.

I do love reading the blogs, however I must agree that seeing the same blog over and over and over... is a total turn-off!

There are many wonderful blogs that teach and have great things to say. But when they are rammed down your throat repeatedly it tends to stick in your gut, and turn you off rather than teach or appreciate the message it may contain. There is nothing to be gained in posting the SAME blog over and in fact it may turn off the very audience you are seeking to attract so I suggest advisors remember that before they re-post their message over and over on the same day.

Yes, it IS getting rediculous.  I tried, in a sort of 'code' to say this to that person (we all know who it is) and know I have to be careful here..

But it's time to draw some bounderies.. the clients are getting upset too and angry...

This makes Keen look bad - reputation and all.  People see this and get turned off.  I have a fear of retailiation but I do know that people (clients too) do NOT like it!

We all have a Customer List and this is how I advertise..Blog Hogs will draw what they ARE!

Actually, he already has...these folks are all over the blog for their free minutes..

Does this person really think they will talk longer than that?

Not in my experience...
