What did you do throw the hen in the water? That is mean.

The hen jumped onto the float she was probably scared of a fox. We had a problem with a fox eating our hens at night.

Lexy I had a little banty hen that would cool herself in the horse trough all the time.  So I think sometimes they like bird baths like other fowls!  She would splash around for awhile and jump out and take off for the barn.  This became a ritual for her all throughout the summer.

Ah Lexy poor little Goldie.  I loved our chickens and all had names and I miss them in our life now.  They are a lot of work however and my husband and I have cut back on chores that take our physical strength.  My chickens went to a good family however that have 6 kids and the only one we could not part with was Henny Penny who lived to a nice old age.  Blessings lexy this was a great picture of Goldie.

When I was a child we had a chicken with only one leg.  I used to dress it up in doll clothes and put it in a doll stroller.  Poor thing.

We let the hens roam free. They would sleep in the magnolia tree. Something got them one by one. They would lay the biggest eggs, much bigger than the extra extra large at the grocery store. One leg? Good she was nice and tame.
