~ REIKI HEALING....WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT~
REIKI HEALING is an ancient Japanese technique for relaxation that also promotes the body's natural healing abilities.
It is a warm and soothing energy that flows from the hands of the practitioner into the client. This energy promotes relaxation & releasing of tensions.
We know that STRESS can cause:
1. decreased function of the immune system
2. increased heart rate & increased blood pressure
3. tense muscles
4. shallow breathing
5. increased level of stress hormones which can wreak havoc with blood sugar and weight gain
6. negative coping mechanisms such as excess smoking, drinking of alcohol, emotional eating & other behaviors
We know that RELAXATION responses of the body include:
1. dilation of the blood vessels so that blood flows more freely throughout the body
2. lowering of blood pressure and heart rate(pulse)
3. slow & deep breathing
4. muscle relaxation where oxygen & nutrients can then go where they are needed and nourish the body
5. strengthening of the immune system
REIKI is an excellent way to promote the relaxation response.
REIKI is an excellent tool for those working in a detox & recovery program.
REIKI is gaining recognition within our health care system, especially in Cancer programs, Hospice programs & AIDS programs.
REIKI is integrating into the National Health Service in the UK
Programs such as Healing in Hospitals Workshop in Hertfordshire UK are starting up. University College London Hospital hematology department treats patients with lukemia and other life threatening diseases. REIKI HEALING is offered there to their patients right along side traditional medicines.
When I studied REIKI and became a REIKI MASTER & TEACHER, I chose to travel to the UK for my schooling because of this reason. I began REIKI I in 2002 and went back for my MASTER'S & TEACHERS levels in 2004. My fellow students were the head of the National Health Service and the head of National Health Service Psychiatry Department. These woman were there to learn REIKI HEALING and to bring it back to their instituaions and integrate REIKI HEALING into medical treatments. That was 3 years ago, and I knew the USA would follow suit, just in it's own time. Well, the Cancer Treatment Centers of America has just started to introduce REIKI HEALING as part of it's uniques cancer treatment programs offered to their patients. It is a matter of time before all hospitals will offer REIKI HEALING along with traditional medicine.
