Today, I want to address a situation that is really important to all of us on Keen,
Advisors & clients alike ..... HONESTY & INTEGRITY.
Honest is defined in Websters dictionary:
1. free from deceit, upright, truthful, not cheating, stealing, etc.
2. open & frank
3. true
Integrity is defined in Websters dictionary:
1. the state of being whole & undivided, completeness
2. honest
The other day on Keen, I was reading a blog and as I read more and more of it, something was just not right. I knew I had read this somewhere before.
I read the complete blog entry, thinking I would see the author/advisor give credit to the true source of the information given in this blog.
I knew they did not write themself, as I had just read the same article that very morning in an email sent to me from a well known website.
As I finished the article, I saw nothing written that would tell the readers this information was written by someone else. I was thinking, maybe I was wrong. So I went back and reread my email, and sure enough, there it all was.
Sure the advisor changed some of the paragraphs around, but the verbage & wording was almost exact.
I went back to the blog entry and reread that also, thinking again, I must have missed something when I read it the first time. Surely this advisor wouldn't draft this blog entry as their own! Credit to the original author must be there somewhere on this blog entry.
Well, it wasn't!
On top of that, someone had gone and left a comment to say how great this entry was, how helpful etc.
That got me to thinking....about HONESTY & INTEGRITY and not just here on Keen, but in our everyday lives.
Having INTEGRITY truly means living it with your actions, words & thoughts.
Now I know we are all human, so we will each have times when we could have made a better choice. That is not what I am talking about here though.
I am talking about situations when we know what we are doing is dishonest & decietful, and we decide to do it anyway...thinking nobody will know.
Sure nobody may figure out that you did not create this great article of information, but you know, your Higher self, your Soul.
The compliments you receive about work that is not yours, don't give you joy and that feeling of success you feel when you know you truly helped another on their journey.
Gaining others trust based upon deceitful actions is never really fulfilling.
You will never feel a deep sense of purpose & fulfillment when being commended on work/knowledge that is not your own.
Sure you may get kudos from your readers, but the feeling those Kudos bring to you will not be genuine within you. Nobody knows, but you do!
There are so many different reasons we are taught to be HONEST & TRUE, to others and our self.
When we decieve others, we usually do this for personal gain of some sort.
Well, that personal gain you are seeking will not truly come to you. The Universe is smarter then we give it credit for, especially those who feel they must appear to others as someone other then who they really are.
The Universe sees all, and will send to you exactly what you put out.
So deceit will bring back deceit, there is no way around it.
There are no special circumstances that the Universe will allow deceit to be done and send back TRUTH to you.
This is where INTEGRITY comes into play. Other people may not realize your deceitful actions, but YOU DO & so does The UNIVERSE.
Knowing that and being aware of Karma, Law of Attraction, Universal Laws etc, just what does someone really think they will get from this type of behavior & choice. Surely they realize they are merely attracting & inviting decieitful people & situations into their own life???
Doesn't seem to be an intelligent choice to invite negative into your own life by being negative to others, especially when you are representing your knowledge and expertise falsely!
Give credit to others when & where it is due!
Not only is it the honest & right thing to do, but when we acknowledge the wisdom of others and pass it on to our clients, we are spreading the right/positive types of energy out into the Universe, and thus attracting the right/positive energy back into our own lives.
A simple way to do this is to list the true author/source, in your blog entry.
Doing this will give credit where it is do, and then when you are given Kudos by your readers, it will feel GOOD.
This situation is a mere example of just how often we are given the chance to do the right thing even when nobody is watching.
Remember...the real meanings of HONESTY & INTEGRITY!
Remember how it feels when we don't honestly earn what we receive?
Remember the Universal Laws.
Remember...YOU WILL KNOW, even though others may not.
When others place their trust & respect in you, did you honestly earn it?
