Considering restylane for frown lines? OMG!! Better read this first!

[reprinted by request]

I am not a doctor. I'm never going to be a doctor. I did visit a doctor recently, excited and a little scared about getting a medical treatment to diminish my growing frown lines.

It only makes sense. I'm in my fifties. I'm eating strictly healthy, highly nutritious foods, I'm riding my bicycle 7 days a week. It's great to get healthier, but I wanted to look refreshed too. Besides Restylane is temporary. Even if the job is botched, I'll get over it. Sounds like a good plan.

I meet the doctor. He's gorgeous. He looks too young to be a doctor. I think later, "Maybe not.  Who knows, maybe he's a patient too."  He's kind. Friendly. He shares some scary news.

"You need to be aware, this is pretty painful treatment. Some women can't take it."

Even though I've never had a tattoo, I said, "Well... is it about the same as a tattoo?"

"No, for some it might be worse. And I say that because I've had girls come in who've had tattoos before and they screamed with the restylane."

(SCREAMED??? wow.)

"You see, with a tattoo you're pushing liquid under the skin. With restylane you're pushing liquid that expands a little bit under the skin. It pushes the cells apart a little. It can be painful."

I live in Oklahoma, not California.  I don't normally bring my cards out around town. But with no shyness whatsoever I whipped my cards out and went to shuffling. And I was so relieved when I saw what they said.

"Oh yeah, I'm in. Let's do it today."

"Really? Are you sure?"

"Doc, it says failure of good news, but that it is absolutely doable. Or basically, it's not a fun ride, but it's not a nightmare either. I can do this. Let's go."  I didn't mention the cards also said I'd be thrilled with the result.

~~~~~~~
Except for three little lines that ran into my upper lip that took the needle entering right on my lip line .... it was very similar to someone getting a splinter out of your finger. Those three little sticks in my lip felt like little sweat bee stings.
At no point did I feel the urge to scream. I did hum. I guess it calms me.
~~~~~~~

NOW FOR THE WARNING......

Folks, I was a teen in the sixties, in college in the seventies. I have tried more than a few addictive drugs in my life. The doctor would show me in the mirror a little feathery line he was going to erase, then he'd erase it, then he'd show me again.... AND WATCHING MYSELF GET YOUNGER IS THE MOST ADDICTIVE DRUG I'VE EVER DONE!!

I was high as a cell phone tower all day. I've never done a drug in my life that made me feel that good and THAT FEELING....  my friends, is the essence of addiction.

Will I ever do restylane again?  Yes, yes, hell yes, right up  until they tie me down in a nursing home to keep me from escaping and accosting Doctors trying to force them to "do me again.  Come on Doc, do me just one more time!!!"

All I can say is thank God I never got addicted to expensive coffee or gambling, because I'd be giving up something to support this new habit.

DO NOT get restylane until you're ready to be a junkie too. It might not effect you the same way. But based on my personal experience,  I'mmmm guessssing it probably will.

Recent feedback I've loved:
7/4/2011        5 stars On 5/26-Lollie said I will have a bump up in my finances in a month-I sure did (raise)! Said that my wish will come true as far as my son going to college, but that he will want to take a year off & for me not to be mad cuz itl'll be memorable. I laughed to myself that she must be crazy. Well, the 17 y/o kid told me 2 days ago he is thinking about taking a year off from college to pursue a passion. Whoa! Today, she gave me update about my relationship. Still sees commitment and gave me more details to look forward to. Will update. You sure convinced this skeptic.

6/30/2011        5 stars Thank you, Lollie! First time caller and you totally pegged my boss, the returning ex, my retreating and not having enough fun, my Mom, friends, and everything else we touched on! And all with nothing more than a brief question! I so appreciate the validation on what I was already kind of sensing on some of it and I have the dates marked with your name. Love your personality and your style!

I love to hear about all that I have to look forward to when my wrinkles start showing.  I've been dying my hair to cover the gray and have finally decided to let it grow out just out of curiousity.

Yeah.. that'll last for about five minutes.  :-)  Thank you for sharing!

Lollie you are an absolute riot!  I have missed your blogs and this one is no exception.  I have been blessed with my Mother's skin and I don't have to many wrinkles even at my age but I sure am glad that this has made you happy.  You need to take care of yourself and your self esteem.

Blessings and thanks for sharing...I never even heard of restylane before so thanks for enlightening me!

Restylane is temporary.  It is not for everyone, tho.  If you have any history of "fever blisters" aka HSV1, skip the injectables...it can cause a severe outbreak.
I'm a cosmetic procedure junkie and Botox is the bomb.  For line fillers there is a product called Juvederm Ultra that is great for lines around the mouth and for plumping the lips...lasts longer than most injectables..8-12 months.  Make sure your tech is operating under the supervision of a doctor, or better yet, have the doctor (Board Certified Plastic Surgeon) do the work.

I am all for those little additions to our lives. I have every intention of getting that fat melting laser thingy. And in a few years a boob lift. Why not? It's available? :)

I am looking for you to tell me that I am going to be getting an inheritance soon or somebody left me a pile of money. Should that happen,I am most definitely going to erase my own frown lines .I do not know if I am going to use restylane or something else;however,one thing I know for sure is that I am going to check with you before I do it. Though I have never done drugs in my life,I wish to applaud you as some people who read your blog may come to understand that they have a chance. It is this type of honesty on your part that makes me respect and love you. Please keep up the good work .I do not care if I get free minutes or not,reading about your life stories gives me hope for mine.

But Lollie, HOW MUCH WAS IT?  I seen botox shots going for ten bucks a shot. I could use it for the line between my eyes I've gotten from thinking too hard! ;)

I've had restylane for a few years now. It doesn't hurt that much. Goodness, I can tell this is a man who hasn't had babies! lol Screaming? Screaming with joy, more than likely. I get shots in my chin, which had deep crevasses due to much-needed drying acne lotions when I actually had too MUCH oil in my skin and to hide a very deep scar in my forehead. It's the best! Welcome to the cult! LOL --Kathy p.s. Did you have in in your lip? I've been afraid of doing that because I bruise? No, it doesn't hurt...I just bruise easily!

i think some people who are afraid of needles that maybe scary..but those who arent maybe not at all.I would consider getting this done when im older..if im not taking care of my skin enough lol...However i do think so people go over board with getting botox and plastic surgery if it makes you happy fine.

I kind of like the crow's feet beside my eyes and the crazy little half-dent, half-wrinkle over my eyebrow. I've come a long way and I earned every one of my imperfections. So, honestly? I don't think I would do it, but I am all about doing things that make you feel good about yourself, so I say go for it and enjoy!

I can't really think of a better psychic around Keen and any other place.  Lollie possess the gift to understand, interpret and foresee the cards and her intuition is so sharp she has hardly ever missed.  And as a person she is simply extraordinary bringing me inspiration and uplifting my spirits and my soul during moments she has no way to know I need her help, magically I receive a joke, sharing of a story, or even a movie review to go see reminding me that I somehow forgot to have fun so is very encouraging.  To have the abiltity to contact her in moments of doubt is priceless. She is a fantastic reader and I highly recommend her to anyone seeking for direction, psychic advice to learn what is coming ahead.

Lollie is indeed one of the best readers in this site and even out of this site. She is just accurate, fast, compassionate, kind, direct, honest and reliable.  Thank you.

This is too funny, Lollie. I know I'm already contemplating procedures (tummy tuck, butt lift, botox) later on in my life. For now, I'll be happy considering that I still pass for my son's older sister (LOL). I'm glad you like my review and put it on this blog. I've only read with you 3 times now and prediction from the time still has me shaking my head. You were right about the bump up in salary in a month. We actually got notices from the CEO before a month was up. That was nice, but then I thought perhaps it's 50/50 shot. What really blew my socks off was about my son. I asked about his college and what we can expect because we need to start looking this Fall. You, of course, told me that my son will take a year off and wanted me to know that it'll be memorable for him. I was thinking to myself...this woman is crazy...but sure enough, a month after our reading, he told me that he is seriously planning to take a year off to dance. WOW...so, I can only believe what you told me about the boyfriend (can you send him  a psychic slap please). Stay awesome!!

LOVE THIS POST! And I'm following right behind  ya, sistah! I'm making an appt for the end of the month. On the heels of my 46th bday it is my present to myself and I need to be "refreshed". And I'm well aware I'll probably become a "junkie" as when I went in for the consult they explained other "treatments" that would refresh me and it was like being in a candy store....Dear Goddess, help me fight that addiction! lol

I would be very scared and skeptic, I don't have very many frown lines. I am in my early sixties. I do kind of have sympathy for those that feel that they did to do that. It is not for me though. Thanks for letting me express my feelinf on the subject though. purplekittie22
