Goose Bump City as Far as the Eye Can See - [true psychic reading]

I was fifteen the first time I went to see a psychic. I went mostly for chuckles and grins, to see someone try to scam me, up close and personal. I didn't know for sure what was going to happen. I knew I wasn't going to be impressed, but it would be fun to share the stupid stuff she told me after it was over.

My mother warned me not to be so sure. She had gone to visit Hattie back in the forties when my mother was a party girl. Hattie had told her that mom's boyfriend would stand her up Friday and she'd be mad and want to go out with someone else to punish him - but don't do it, because he'd show up Saturday and she'd see he had a good reason, that it really wasn't his fault.

As predicted, he stood her up on Friday and it took everything my mother had to hold herself back from going out with someone else just to spite him, but she was surprised Hattie had been right about him standing her up, so she stayed home. Come Saturday morning he didn't have to explain the details for her to know it wasn't his fault. As soon as he started getting out of the car she could see the cast on his leg as he dug around for the crutches. Come to find out, he'd been in a car wreck. Just as Hattie told her, she 'saw' he had a good reason.

That put a little bit of a doubt in my head, but hey, people make lucky guesses every day... so I was still a good 95% convinced this old woman was a fake because all psychics were fakes. I was only fifteen and I knew that. Everyone oughta know that, right?

Hattie was a little bent woman with her thin gray hair in a tight little bun and a face as cut with wrinkles as a dried out river bed. She lived in a tiny shotgun house, just three small rooms in a row with an outhouse in the back yard. We sat in her living-room where pictures of jesus, jfk, and her own family members covered the walls. We sat on ancient, threadbare furniture. She poured us each a cup of coffee with the grounds in it. She said to let it steep and settle for a minute. Had me drink mine while praying. I was an athiest at the time so just said in my head "yada, yada, yada, whatever, amen."

She took my cup and almost threw it upside down on the saucer. Then she picked it up and started examining it. She told me I had a trip at my door. Good guess. I was leaving that evening to go stay in another city for a few months.

She told me it wouldn't go well and I'd return early due to an argument with a man in my family. Lots of people don't get along with their older brother and mine was a total jerk, she was probably right there too. No wonder she convinced so many people. Clearly she was a good con artist because I hadn't told her I'd be staying with my oldest brother, the jackass of our family.

She told me my father would get a huge amount of money the government owed him.  The government did owe him a lot of money. He was on disability, it should have been service connected disability, but the building the records had been stored in had burnt long before everything was kept in triplicate, and we'd been fighting to get what was rightfully his ever since. I wondered though if that didn't come up a lot for kids my age. Many of us had fathers that had been in the second world war.

As I was leaving she stopped me, "One more thing, be sure to have someone check underneath your car. There's something you must get changed under there before you go."

"But we don't have the money to fix something under the car before we go!"

"Yes you do, it's little and cheap, but it's important, because you'll have a wreck if you don't change it before you go."

Crazy ol' bat of a woman. I chalked the last up to senility.

When I got home I was all excited and ready to tell my sweetie about my experience, but James Daniel stopped me. "Honey, wait a minute, Western Auto closes in twenty minutes and I've got to hurry so I can get this part for the car before we go." A part for the car? What kind of part? "

"It's just a kotter key,  a little dealie that goes under the car. It only costs about $2.50, but I've gotta go get it now cause if I don't we might wreck before we get there."

Whoaaa!!! Goose bump city!  If there had been a flea anywhere on me, it woulda been goosebumps as far as it's little eyes could see. I rushed him out the door.

Everything in her reading came true except for the money. My father went to his grave many years later with the government still owing him.

So I guess you could say that Aunt Hattie showed me two things.

  1. psychic ability is by God, REAL
  2. even good psychics can make mistakes

Many years later and all of my experiences on either side of the table have re-inforced what I learned that day about psychic ability. A good half of the bad feedback written here at keen is written because some people bought into the definition of psychics written and still used by fakes "sees all, knows all." They're expecting perfection. I am not perfect. But I am good enough that I read my own cards every day. They were the deciding factor in the following decisions I've made that I can see around me right now:

  • Mr. Minnihan (18 years ago [dachshund mix - greatest dog of my life])

  • Keen - excellent location! (11 years ago)

  • my pick-up (8 years ago [cards said I'd never wanna give it up] true!)

  • my computer (1 year ago)
  • my house and view (6 months ago)
  • my new dental work (2 days ago)

The only thing on that list I regret is my new dental work, and that's okay because my cards said I wouldn't be that thrilled with it for the first two weeks. Which reminds me, if you hear a little bit of a sssss or if I make a little sound of pain like I just bit my tongue (again), please look over it, I will sound like my old self again soon.

Curious what I can sssee for you?

This reminds me of me when I was 17 and my mom went to this lady a while ago and then she sent me there . I was so scared and even more scared when this really scarey lady answered the door bright red hair . told us she would call us in a few. My turn to go in told me things my mouth dropped opened a few times told me not to look at her and keep writing . when I got up she told me my eyes would be teary and that she could not tell me why. when I got home my dad pulled my mom aside and said I had an emergency phone call , of course my mom told him the lady said I would be teary eyed that day . when I got off the phone I sure was teary eyed My best friends father was killed and died at his job , from that point on I always belived in readers or psychics never doubted them after that . I have had my own experiences in my home and now my two year old see's ghosts . so maybe he will one day read for me . Thanks for sharing your story it sounded like me only a little bit older

love allie

Lollie this a cute story. I can honestly say at times when I get a reading and it sounds to good to be true I say yeah right, but I have to have more faith that I too can have a good life.  I love the pictures.

I was a non beliver in psychics as well until earlier this year. I had spoken to several psychics several times long ago who basically told me things I already knew and nothing to help. I have two favorites here on keen - one of them is lollie because she always gives me helpful tools to improve my life and I thank her.

You are amazing, I love that story.  And your right, you can't always be 100%, but you sure can come close.

Just goes to show you that psychics are real. My first experience made the hairs on my arms literally stand up with amazement. Thank you for posting this Lollie.

Great post. I had to laugh because I was this way on my first read back in November 2008.  Its not that I didn't believe in psychic ability (I myself am very intuitive and see things..which was scary as a little girl to see wrecks before they happened, when jewelry went missing, etc..) but I didn't know at a young age this feeling was called "psychic". It was just something weird I kept to myself and fought back. Also during this time, the 90s..Ms. Cleo and the Psychic Friends Network with Dionne Warwick were known scams so this let me know all psychics were fakes!

Anywho in November 2008 I went on a weeklong trip to Vegas with my bestfriend. We went in the Palms hotel to see if we could see the suite where the Real World Las Vegas was filmed. We couldn't since it was occupied. So upon leaving we see a psychic sitting behind sheer curtains in a parlor inside the Palms. My friend always wanted a reading but was scared. I rolled my eyes saying scared of what? She said to hear something bad. I said oh please, ill go first so you can see how full of bull she is then if you still want to do it, then you go last.

So I went first. She had me pick out cards and shuffle them while she meditated with her eyes closed. I rolled my eyes and shook my head at my friend in a "this is dumb" way. I thought to myself good thing this is a waste of only $20 bucks.

So she gets in her zone to read and said she will do a general reading..she started with my love life. I say to myself whatever..who cares about love. She goes in character and starts mimicking how I am when it comes to guys. She folded her arms and turned up her nose and shook her head and said "Oh no, look at his shoes. Oh look at his clothes..he is not for me..no way."  My friend laughs uncontrollably and says "oh yes that's her!" So I tell my friend to shut up.  So the psychic says I'm picky and I have a list of how I want my man to be and that its good that I constantly change the list when I realize I can overlook some petty things.  I think to myself, yeah ok she picked up my personality and my list,  but that's nothing..lucky guess!

She then picks up the guy in my life @ the time and tells me that he will be around as long as I let him, but he's not the one. Ok another lucky guess. So I say, I just want to know about a job interview I had last week. Will I get it?

She meditates then says yes..you will get a call in 4 days. I said to myself "yeah right, they said they wouldn't be making a decision until the first week of December..she's bogus!"

So she read my friend and she was right about her situation so I was like ok maybe she got a little psychic ability but who doesn't have a wishy washy guy in their life? More lucky guesses.

Long story short, on November 11, 2008, I get a call from the job I interviewed for. They offered me the job! I was shocked! She told me on the 5th I would get a call in 4 days.  The 5th was on a Wednesday.  The 6th (thurs), 7th (fri), 10th (mon) and 11th (tues) was 4 days excluding the weekend since the company wasn't opened. I became a believer!

So I was like u Lollie. I was a skeptic. Before I could understand the awkward and scary feelings of seeing were intuitiveness and the gift, I didn't believe in it. Now I still do believe there are fakes, but I am able to tell the real from the fake.

Thanks for sharing!

I was also a non believer and me and my friends just wanted to try it, yes i still have my doubts because the people i have spoken to i have not seen any results but from watching nature around me i do believe that some people do have special gifts

she is the real deal. it shows how much fear and doubt a person can have when they dont have faith in a prediction. you taught us what not to do in a reading.

I always enjoy your blogs and some people have the gift and use it, some people want the gift but can't get it and some people are just too close-minded to see the gift work, right in front of their face. I am very open-minded and believe there are people out there, including you, that just are more sensitive, lack of a better word, to the energy and vibration people give out.  My intuition is quite strong and scares me sometimes when I think of something and it comes to fruition.  I haven't mastered the 'gift' but, I enjoy more 'aha' moments that make me smile.

I am writing this as I expect that I would not get the free minutes(the time zone is against me). However,I enjoy reading this true-life stories of Lollie's and this one again demonstrates why I only want readings from you--your ability to laugh at yourself, your psychic ability, and that you are willing to admit when you are not sure or the cards are not clear as opposed to just saying anything. I will be talking to you shortly as I am in dire need of your wisdom and guidance.Keep up the good work.

Lollie,

I have been talking with Psychics for years and I was talking to one quite a bit and she was very accurate but she told me I was going to get pregnant and if it wasn't something I was planning to be careful I chuckled a bit because I had been on the pill for yrs well I went to the Dentist and he did some work that required him to put me on an antibotic well the pharmistist never told me that the anticbotic could lessen the effects of the pill so as you can imagine I ended up Pregnant

That is great! I haven't yet had that experience but what I am seeking to know is taking a while. I'm sure everything will work out and when they do I will see exactly what you are talking about!! Great post Lollie!

After so many readings by so many people, few people stand up as genuinely gifted psychics with high integrity delivering what needs to be known and Lollie has been direct and genuine, but also very accurate and completely honest always sensitive and yet Cristal clear in her deliverance of what she foresees... I love talking to her because of the insight I gain through her readings.  Her advice and guidance has been crucial during times of hardship always providing me with direction.  As an adviser she is among the best.  As a person, she is a true inspiration always sharing powerful thoughts, jokes and narratives that not only have cheered me up during challenging times, or brought tears of joy to my eyes when I have though I have lost a sensitive side... Lollie has been there for me as a great support system always delivering more than what I have asked for but what my soul has needed even when I haven't even call for her as a psychic reader adviser :)

Lolls,
Thanks for sharing, you are so real, right on, and down right truthful I so appricate it. Before I found you I had some real winners. I would have to provide them with a large amount and I mean large amount of information before I could ask a simple question. Hell with all the information that I was giving, I could have googled and answer!! So when you find a good psychic you stick with her. Well Lolls I hate to say it but I guess your stuck with me. :)
