You might love this... I do.

Rhonda rolled her eyes at me. "You cannot lose weight eating goulash every day if you want to!! You're crazy Lollie! You're freaking crazy!  Ha! Ha!  And you'll probably tell me it's going to be delicious, high fiber, tone my body, and make my skin more beautiful too, aren't you?"

"Yes. That's exactly what I'm saying. Oh yeah and it's a really big meal. This is for the days when you're seriously hungry, and crave comfort food. If you eat half of your serving now and the other half tomorrow cold, who can blame you. It's that big and only 279 golden calories."

My name is Lollie Multi-tasking DotCom. All my recipes have four things in common:

  • I never add salt, but you can.
  • They are one serving.
  • I'm lazy, so they're ridiculously easy.
  • If I cook it at all, It's high nutrition and low calorie.
  • Reasons for choices mean it takes longer to read this post than to make.
(: Guaranteed. :)

There may  be veggies in the recipe you don't like. Switch em for your own favorites. Or make it with no veggies at all. You can adjust the recipe and resulting calorie count any way you like. Just don't use canned veggies, they have added salt and usually corn syrup, and have fewer nutrients.  Fresh or frozen only to get these golden numbers.

Lollie's Guilt-free Pasta Dream

YOU'LL NEED:
1 big freezer bag
6 zip lock sandwich bags

YOU MIGHT LIKE:
The Fasta Pasta Maker (if you're only making 1 or 2 servings)
I do. :)

INGREDIENTS TO PUT IN EACH BAGGIE (& 1 for Today)
Ronzoni Elbow Macaroni - 1/2 cup = 2 oz
PictSweet brand Seasoning Blend - 1/2 (chopped mostly onion w/bell pepper)
Pictsweet brand Cut Okra  - 1/2 cup
Birds Eye brand Steamfresh Cut Green Beans - 1/2 cup
or squash or whatever veggies you like

SAUCE

Smart Balance 37% Light Spread -  1 Tablespoon
Great Value (Wal-Mart) Crushed Tomatoes In Puree - 1 cup
Lindsay Sliced Black Olives - 2 T
Season it the way you always season goulash. It's important YOU love it.

DIRECTIONS
First put the measured amounts of macaroni and veggies into the baggies and the fasta pasta, you'll have a little extra macaroni, throw it into the fasta pasta, it's still gonna even out. There are seven servings in the box. Toss the baggies in the freezer. Might take five minutes total.

Put the tablespoon of buttery spread in the sauce pan on low heat, add crushed tomatoes, black olives, Mrs dash and stir then put a lid on it.

Add cold water from the tap to the second line of the Fasta Pasta, remember to leave the lid off (it's only to make straining a snap after it's done) put in the microwave for (depending on your make and model) 14 minutes at a power level of 9.

Turn up the music, get in front of a mirror and taebo-weightlift-dance-run in place till the timer goes off. Now the only difference I can tell between high fiber and regular pasta is  high fiber seems to cook faster than regular pasta while it's just sitting there in hot water. So don't walk. Trot or run to that microwave, carefully remove it, put the lid on firmly, and drain. Pour the contents into a large bowl, add the sauce and wonder how you can eat all that delicous food for so few calories!!.  here are the numbers.... based on my ingredients, (my height and current weight to figure the calories burned):

Servings Cals Fat Cholest Sodium Carbs
Fiber Protein
1 394 9g 0mg 626mg 72g
14g 12g

MINUS the 115 calories burned = 279 net calories

Sit down, look at each bite before you put it in your mouth. Take a sip of wine or big gulp of 0 calorie tea between each bite. Think about what you're doing. O! M! G!  Are you actually eating a really BIG serving of truly delicious goulash that is low calorie, heart healthy, toned your body and even improved your skin?  Wait a minute,.... that's right....

How does it improve your skin?

"Tomatos as Sunscreen
Volunteers ate four tablespoons of tomato paste a day for three months to see if the food protected the skin from sun. After three months the an antioxidant found in tomatoes, replenishes the skin cells. lycopene also prevents skin wrinkles by keeping elastic skin tissues from losing tenseness." (reference link)

You're not going to eat this every day. But on those days when your hunger pangs are radiating so far up your throat it makes your mouth water it's wonderful to prepare this in under 2 minutes, rock out for 14, and then kick back, and without an iota of guilt - enjoy a big steaming bowl of pasta.

Me? I'm a 56 year old, female mad diet scientist and I am my only guinea pig. I have four servings of broccoli almost every day and I have this goulash almost every day. It's not a face lift. But all kinds of people tell me what a lovely complexion I have, they're always saying I glow and don't look near my age.  Well here's the thing, I always had a good complexion and it seemed to start aging faster when I hit 50, but that has come to a screeching slow down.  My, "attractive for a woman my age" face has gotten more compliments in the last year than all the previous years of my life. And this damn sure isn't my first diet. But it sure is my favorite.

You just THOUGHT you couldn't eat lotsa pasta on a healthy diet! :)&-=

This sounds great! Can you use Splenda instead of Pictsweet? Do you think sodium is a diet buster?

No Marie, that's not splenda. It's a brand of frozen veggies found at walmart, like birdseye.  Thanks for asking and giving me the opportunity to clear that up.

Thank you so much Rosie! I thought I'd responded to you first. Somehow it didn't post then. Probably got interrupted. I can't imagine eating any other way ever again. :))
