~~SWEEPIN THAT DEVIL OUT OF YOUR HOUSE~~
~~MY GRANNY~~
My Granny's house was in the middle of what we all called the sand flats. It seemed it was nothing but sand and grass burrs or goatheads as we called them. and everybody thought my granny was alittle teched. ( if ya know what i mean) and i can remember her sweeping her wooden flours all day long because living amongst all that sand made her floors sandy all the time...
anyway... there was this man that would come to her house to visit my granddaddy that my granny didnt like... and i can remember her , as soon as he would leave, running and getting her broom and sweeping from the back door of her house , straight out the front all the while mumbling to herself.. and when she would get to the threshold of the front door ... with a big flerish she would sweep that ( what i thought was just dust on the floor ) devil out of her house.. and sayin a stern voice "evil back to the devil where you belong."
and do you know the next time that man came to see my granddaddy he didnt even step up on the porch... he stayed in the yard to speak to my granddaddy...
