When we are looking forward to that wonderful weekend or week away we want it to be romantic and just smurfy for the two love birds .... but as life would always have it, there are usualy adjustments.. like time schedules or childrens bathroom breaks. So maybe we should kinda temper our romanitc expectations slightly until the right moments .. such as after you arrive or after the kids go to bed... if we temper our expectations just slightly , we wont be wearing our feelings on our sleeves and there wont be a chance of disappointment. Romance can still be found. it just might come alittle later than what we want... but if ya get lucky and romance comes sooner... yippie..
And if you have the group of kids that have a tendency to argue when they are traveling.. you can sprinkle alittle cinnamon and sugar outside the car door so they kids step in it and they will be sweet as pie to everyone for a fee hours... here's something that my friend lou(who, by the way, is 74 years young) from lousianna told me about... She had a bunch of boys with here all the time and they loved to fight like kids do, so she would say alittle prayer and ask God to bless her mixer and made a wish on it when she sprinkled it on the ground, so that the boys would get along. She would travel every summer from baton rogue, la to wichita falls, tx to her aunts and thats a long ride for rowdy kids...
Lord love her, she said on that trip every year she never had to pull over for discipline purposes... so it must have worked.. i thought i would pass on her little secret to you.
her mixer was like this:
1.part cinnamon to 2 parts sugar..
so you use 2 teaspoons of sugar
and one teaspoon of cinnamon
her wish was : Dear God in the name of Jesus, When these children walk through this mixer let them be so sweet to one another that honey will drip from their tongues. she would sprinkle on the driveway as the kids walked to get into her car.
