This is me...

I thought it might be helpful if I take some time to introduce myself: the good, the "bad" and the weird...just a short blog about me...and more may come along that are similar :)

I'm just waking up from my traditional afternoon nap and having a cup of coffee. I am addicted to coffee and since I don't like to be dehydrated, I drink water nonstop.  People laugh at me but I always have a glass of water in hand no matter what else I am drinking. Water's good for the sixth chakra...mmm...water.  I'm also addicted to fiber.  The verdict is still out about what chakra fiber is good for, but I'm open to suggestions ;) Maybe there is a connection between being grounded and being regular. LOL  The past 6 months I have ranted and raved about how important fiber is and I simply must get 30 grams in a day.  I'm sitting here eating a delicious fiber bar and noticing that even though it's about that time of day for me to spot clean my apartment, it really doesn't need it. I am such a neat freak.  I never judge others'  homes but when my place is cluttered, wowsers... I cannot work at all.  Heck, I would go so far as to say I can't even breathe...

This leads me to my birds. I have two cockatiels and I absolutely love them! They are loud, messy and cuddly; everything that I am not.  Occasionally we have screaming matches in the morning to greet the sun and once in a while (maybe once a year) I will go without cleaning mercilessly around their cages.  Aiden, the boy, has just discovered girl birds so he struts around trying to get my female's attention.  Sweety really wants nothing to do with him but goes in and out of nesting mode.  I wonder if she realizes there isn't a use in building a nest if she can't even stand to sit next to Aiden...no babies for them.  My birds both picked me and I'm glad they did.  I hope to one day have a place large enough so that I can many more parrots and keep them in a 3 season type room. My friends have given me the official "Crazy Bird Lady" stamp.

I'm a trained chemist/biochemist and I absolutely love lab work and teaching.  My research centers around creating vaccines and diagnostics for respiratory diseases. As a kid I always thought I'd be a veterinarian, but I noticed at a young age that I could sense strongly what my dogs were thinking and feeling.  Animals can still get me wound up emotionally and I connect with them more deeply than most people.  Every now and then a client's animal (passed over or living) will pop up to say "Hi" and tell me what is on their mind. The first time it happened, I didn't even believe it and after I heard myself say the words I thought, "Goodness, I hope she has two cats because I am talking crazy talk otherwise."  Sure enough, she did *phew* ;-)  Animals play such an important role in our lives.  My personal belief is they have a soul contract with us to be our healers and work along side us on our soul's purpose.  I know, it's a big job, but really, if you think about it people play equally important roles in our lives.

When I'm not here, I am most likely in my lab, spending time outdoors, cross stitching and crafting, cooking, spending time with my friends and/or family, watching football, baseball or hockey or working out.  I collect crystals and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" trinkets.  I love spicey food, trivia games, sushi and mint chocolate chip icecream.
