A Chiild Shall Lead the Way part 2

Love is an amazing motivator!  We can build, conquer, and do such fantastic things in the name of love.  So many people are looking for love though in all the wrong places. They seek love through others, and acceptance as well.  One thing I'd like to stress to everyone is that the love of self is the greatest gift you can give yourself.  I've found many people seeking love from those who can't give it, and some who have allowed abuse onto their doorsteps.  However, if we love ourselves we can make a list of our goals, our hopes and dreams and conquer! If we love ourselves, we do not allow others to use or abuse us.  Once you love yourself you can make yourself happy and stop waiting for others to do it for you.  The world can open up it's doors to you.  Oh be joyful and happy and who cares what the rest of the world is thinking!  There have been days I have danced outside with Noah, and for a second I thought about how other people may think I'm crazy singing to my child and dancing. There was a time I pulled over while driving down the road and I asked one of my teen son's to dance in a parking lot.  The key to happiness is to just allow yourself to be happy and to BE YOU, not what the world would have you be!

Fear on the other hand can be very destructive.  It keeps us trapped in situations, prevents us from chasing those dreams and basically works against all that is wonderful in this world.  Fear will hold you back from going after a better job, pursuing a happy and healthy relationship, or getting the help you need because you are afraid of what someone might think.  Fear is only productive if you begin thinking of waking up thirty years later, never quite achieving those dreams and goals and you set out to make positive changes in your life. Everyone has one fear or another of this or that, but it's our choice to allow these fears to run or even ruin our lives where the problems begin.

Now as you know, I have a little boy who has Down syndrome, coloboma, and two holes in his heart.  Many folks may say they couldn't do it (meaning adopt a child with such needs) and fear may be a part of that thought process of why they couldn't do it.  Certainly raising Noah is not all fun and games, but I do so with love in my heart and with hope and joy for every single day.  You see, life is not about what is wrong in our lives, it's about what we have already.... and it's about making the best of today and believing tomorrow is going to be even better.  When you raise a child with disabilities, you know you want what is best for your child and you focus on the fantastic qualities he/she has.  If Noah can wake up smiling every day, so can we! He thrives on love, and he doesn't know what fear is.  He is going to divide and conquer, and he is going to make today the best he can.  He will overlook imperfections and what he doesn't have, and he will focus on what he CAN do.  He doesn't even understand that his heart needs to be repaired, but even if he did I know darn well he'd focus on what he can do today and he'd let GOD worry about tomorrow.

So perhaps as you sit there and think about your life, your goals and dreams.... remember this little boy who is only three years old and make today the best it can be.  Allow this little angel to open up your heart to the possibilities of tomorrow and how THINKING can make a huge difference in your life.  Maybe Noah didn't learn to walk till he was one and a half, but the key is HE DID IT.  He is three and still isn't potty trained, but does that mean he gives up?  It's NEVER too late to learn, or to achieve a goal, or make an impact in your life or someone elses.

Our abilities are often what we believe them to be, just as our future stems around our thinking.  Do you think positive thoughts or do you think negative thoughts?  Do you walk around with fears or hope and love? Are you loving or fearing as you travel down this path we call life?  I hope I have helped at least ONE person today. We certainly are what we THINK.  So go and have a positive day!

 God bless!

Thats so beautiful.....I think Noah must be a beautiful angel here on earth reminding us what pure innocence and love for life looks like.  I dance and sing when I feel like it too!

What a great post.  Noah is an angel and you are blessed to him him.

I was dancing and singing to my four month old niece last night.  She tried to sing with me.  For those few minutes. nothing else mattered...
