Change

Have you been fearing change in your life? I've spoken to many people who fear changes within their jobs, relationships, or even with their children leaving the nest.  As scary as changes may seem, often these changes can bring about a new phase of growth.  Embracing change as a constant can only alleviate stress, anxiety, and worry.  One thing is sure... nothing ever stays exactly the same.

Children grow up, people change goals and outlooks upon life, and relationships change as well since people change. Jobs come and go, and we may even decide it's best to find a new job.  It's a matter of our attitude during those changes.  Do we stress about the change or can we find the positive side?  We may not be able to change some people in our lives, or even some of the circumstances like a job loss. However we are totally in control of our outlook and if it's positive or negative.

I'm raising a little boy with Down syndrome, and I can tell you there are days when I have to remind myself to trust that I have the strength to face whatever comes my way. I can do all things, but first I must believe in my ability to handle the situation.  Our thinking really does impact future outcomes.  I think of the train going up a steep mountain and sometimes I have to say to myself "I think I can, I know I can, I will!"  So no matter what struggle you face today, BELIEVE in yourself and your ability to handle the changes in your own life.  Don't lose faith in you or your situation.

I've always looked upon life with an open mind that when one door closes, another one WILL open. Another opportunity will arrive, and it's up to me whether I hang my head or walk forward in faith. Now I can sit back and have a pity party, or I can have one heck of a great time as adversity or opportunity knocks upon my door.  Sometimes we have to venture outside of our comfort zones and just believe we CAN adjust and learn something new. It's just a matter of making up our minds to succeed no matter what.

I wish you success, and plenty of opportunities for growth! After all, this is LIFE 101... a never ending learning experience.
