Who Am I?
Hello there! I'd like to just give you some information on who I am, since I feel it's always nice to get to know the person behind the cards. I really enjoy working for Keen, but not just Keen because after all without you I wouldn't have a job. I came on Keen seven years ago upon deciding my path would lead to adopting a special needs child. I knew I'd need to bring home the bacon, and since I had been reading for friends and family I thought why not the public?
My husband and I knew the journey would be arduous. We had a few children come into view, but then the situations didn't work out for one reason or another. It seemed like we would get so close, and then a door would shut. Amazingly though we were being prepared to take on the task of adopting a baby with Down syndrome. To understand our story better you would have to understand we were told we would never ever have the chance to adopt a baby because I had four children from a previous marriage. So all of the children who came to us were older, but I felt I would take on whatever God brought forth. Although I did tell my husband that I knew my higher power was greater than anyone holding profiles in their hands, and I believed one day a baby would indeed come. After a few years of waiting, we felt blessed to adopt an 11 day old baby with Down syndrome, two holes in his heart and iris and retina coloboma in one eye. (Coloboma is where the eye doesn't develop right in the womb and a hole is left within the eye.)
Many people since then have asked, "Why would you do this?" My answer is simple, "Why not? Why not give a little back, and give a child a permanent home where he would be loved regardless of what many would consider limitations. My husband could not have children of his own, and I knew a greater plan existed." We've certainly been through a lot since the day our son entered our life. At three years old he would endure heart repair, one of the toughest moments we have faced thus far. He has taught us so much in the four years, and I could not love him more if he were my own flesh and blood. He is the light of our family, and this child certainly leads the way in spirit and love.
So I am mom to five wonderful people. Each one will always be one of my babies, but two have reached the age to go on their own. Our time together is very precious. My family is my first job, and I feel blessed to be apart of their lives.
As far as my interests go, I love writing poetry so from time to time you may find some of that in my blogs. I also love Celtic music, nature, and a good old fashioned pillow fight. I am often the instigator of such events, although my little guy is certainly learning.
Well, that is just a little about me. I love working with my clients and I feel blessed to share in your lives. I always appreciate each call that comes in, and I do feel blessed to be chosen to be a part of your life as well.
God bless!
