Angels To The Rescue!
Late yesteday afternoon I observed from inside my backdoor a rabbit that I named as my "Hunnybunny"-who has two little ones usually with her that lately wander up to munch on something in my grass. I smiled as I watched her chomping away-and whispered quietly, "angels watch over my hunnybunny'. Not really SURE at that moment why? Within what seemed like a split-second-a large hawk came swooping down from nowhere-wings spread and claws open as it quickly swooped down to grab the rabbit. I gasped-and stepped outside watching. Squirrels and birds quickly disappeared from the scene around them. The large hawk dove downwards to embrace the rabbit in its claws-and I heard the rabbit squeal. Under my breath, I groaned 'Nooo, help it pleasse!!" In a flash-the hawk appeared to have lost its grip and the poor rabbit hopped off disappearing into the woods. The large hawk stood staring-flapping its' huge wings and tried to duck into the wooded area-but it was too dense for him to get through! It took off flying away-and I hoped the rabbit was 'safe'-and had escaped all harm from its' massive claws as it did physically grab the poor thing! The hawk had been watching obviously intending for the poor rabbit to be his next meal-but ended up being sorely disappointed!
This was a lesson I think to me--that no matter what we ASK our angels to do-no matter how BIG OR LITTLE-the task may be--our prayers are heard when it concerns US-or something or anything we love dearly! I wandered back inside-closing the door my heart pounding at the scene I had just witnessed. In the silence of that moment-it was almost as if I could hear "Did you not ASK us to protect this creature? WHY are you so surprised when we answer your requests'"! A gentle breeze blew through the room that gave me a chill-and I watched as my curtains silently flutter for a moment then stopped.
I wandered back to door after 15 or more minutes had passed-still pondering what had just happened. It was near dark-but in the wooded area behind my home I saw the nose of the rabbit peeking out-cautiously-then came out as a herd of deer walked by. The rabbit was still obviously shaken as she carefully crossed the yard-THEN she glanced straight up at me wide-eyed and staring as if to say thank you-then resumed her munching. I laughed quietly and closed the door. I know now this was a small lesson-but a big message within it. Angels really do exist. They guard and protect even small creatures we love. How much MORE do they watch over US!!
