Every home, every person rather, should have a sacred alter.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a bit of a Pagan Witch Shaman - someone who follows the moon phases, meditates to Krishna, prays to Christ, collects Angels, or are Catholic (I love to connect with Mother Mary).

(chest alter! lol)

(this is a temporary outdoor alter during a fire circle)
What matters is YOU and what you are. That YOU place somewhere in your home, a sacred space reserved for metaphysical focus.
A sacred space to remember who you REALLY are, a divine spark of God/dess; connected to ALL that is and ever was.
This alter can exist on the top of a dresser, or a speaker or mantel. Find a favorite piece of material and your most special, magical, beautiful, healing & most positive items and display them in a way which has meaning.
In this space you can light candles for prayer or spend time on an intension to manifest something in your life.
In this space you can begin to follow the full moon and new moon, FEEL the changes of the moon as they dip in to and out of zodiac signs and radiate different flavors of energy and food for thought.
In this space you can place photos of power animals or of people who need prayer and healing.

(another chest alter!) You wear your power, too!
You can place crystals & stones for protection or for enhancing a quality you’d like to see in your life.
You can place a picture of a guru, a tarot card which resonates with you on this day, a Saint you feel drawn toward, a statue which calls to your soul, a symbol of divine energy & healing, or a picture of peaceful retreat in nature which soothes or excites you.
In this place you are CREATIVE and POWERFUL.
Recently my friend from KY came to see my new condo in Michigan. She’s a professional weaver and wonderful artist who I’ve known for many years. Our children have grown up together.
I’d spent so much time and energy putting in my own laminate floor (Yes! I did it all with the help of a girlfriend. Power tools and all!), and spent so much time painting and cleaning and fixing up my new place, that something vital was missing.
After a brief tour of my home she said,
“This is the first time a home of yours has no alter!”
She was right. Of course! I had yet to create my sacred space. No wonder things felt off balance. We got to work planning a mantel over the fire place for which to create a sacred space for my new home.
Since then I’ve moved the alter to a tall hallway dresser top and this suits me better because it’s in a private, quiet ‘out of the way’ spot where I can hang many photos and pictures on walls and get as IN to it as I need to.
On this full moon I plan to completely dust off and redo my alter space. I’ll be placing new & fresh photos, pretty candles with summer flowers from the lake.
There is a goal I want to achieve so I’ll focus on the manifestation of this. I will also pray for a child I know, and look forward to connecting in thankful meditation with my wonderful teachers, Angels, & Spirit Guides who patiently assist me on this Earth Walk.
Years ago I used a personal sacred alter for the purpose of following moon phases in relation to personal astrological charts of my closest friends.
Every day I’d check their charts against my own chart and see what sort of mood or frame of mind they’d be in based on which astrological sign the moon was in.
For example, when the moon is in Libra (it changes phase about every two ½ days if I remember correctly) I become very social. But my best friend becomes introspective and retreats.
Knowing this about her chart I began to see clearly how I’d been misunderstanding her behavior during a Libra moon phase and feeling her retreat as rejection.
I suddenly understood a truth about our relationship, something which had perplexed me prior to paying attention to moon phases!
Doing this for a year with several relationships, I not only could FEEL intuitively when the moon changed (great side effect w/ following the movement of the moon!) but I learned so much about personal energies . . . and now feel a great respect for individual karma.
Do you have a personal alter? Do you see now, the marvelous potential there is to have one?

(piano alter)
Yes you can!!
What better time than during a full moon in a Mercury Retrograde, than to embark on a deep journey of healing and creating.
Maybe you can choose to spend time on a personal alter today, tomorrow or as soon as you can.
The NEW MOON is an awesome time to begin this project, too.
Think about and plan your sacred space . . . make it a functional part of your spiritual life. It’s so exciting, isn’t it!!?!
Light!
