BEYOND COINCIDENCE

I had just moved to Michigan after living in a crafty progressive Kentucky town for over 23 years. I felt like a fish out of water! I hadn't been in Michigan since before I was ten years old! Now I was an adult, misplaced single mom with two kids who were transitioning, too. This move was sudden and scary. It was abrupt and I did it on a wing and prayer, literally.

Thinking back I now see how signs were popping up everywhere that things were going to be okay. The first that stands out was during a break off the interstate in Ann Arbor. I parked the big U Haul truck that was towing my jeep and we went inside a little fast food restaurant for some food. A little girl came and sat with my small son, daughter and I during the whole meal. When I asked her name, she said it was 'Faith'.

I need a LOT of faith during that time. I was moving across country to a town sight unseen! Trusting that this move would bring a better situation to our small family. Long story, happened eight years ago.

The next very BIG sign came on the day I moved out of my great aunt's home in to our first apartment, about four months later. I'd gotten a new nursing job and saved enough money to get us started on our own. The night before our move I cried myself to sleep, praying for any sign that this decision to leave my familiar home town was going to work out. That there was a reason for us being here.

That next morning I called the television cable company to arrange for our cable in the new apartment to be turned on asap. The woman on the line took all my information and at the end of the call said, "Now that I have all I need, I want to say something. There is only one Fawn Burgess that I know and she went to third grade with me years ago. This has to be YOU! I'm your old best friend Kim!"

I was shocked and amazed! I only had two good friends back then, Kim and Angela. Here I stood in my great aunt's kitchen having not lived here in over 23 years, a big capital city area, and the random cable operator went to school with me in third grade! Not only that, but she was a significant person in my life back then.

We exchanged our phone numbers, but we never followed up. I really wasn't interested in rekindling that relationship. Yet the SIGN I got that day was this: Yes, there is a REASON you are here.

Did it have to do with childhood things? Unfinished karma? I don't know. But the message was clear and perked me up!

When our hearts cry out for a message, we often recieve one. I wanted to share this today.

Light!

Fawn
