Rarely Known Tarot Trivia

     

  • Tarot symbols are inscribed on columns in the arcane room of Egyptian pyramids.
  • Arcane means storage chest of deep spiritual knowledge.
  • Tarot entered Europe as early as the 12th century, spread by wandering gypsies.
  • By 15th century tarot became the first card (‘tar’) game in the world loved by upper class in Northern Italy, France, Sicily and Germany.
  • Great Hermes Trismegisto whose name means, ‘Great Messenger of the Gods’ invented Triumph, the  famous tarot card game.
  •  The English and French explored the powerful divining nature of tarot symbolism and began to elaborate on creation of tarot cards, artistically meant to capture higher spiritual essence and meanings.
  • Tarot is considered the ultimate ‘wizard’s instrument’, opening the door to our symbolic unconscious.
  • There are hundreds of different artistically designed tarot decks in the world today.
