Last week: He won a new four door toyota truck by shooting a three pointer, during half time, at an Oakland Warriors (NBA) basketball game!

My ex husband, Greek freak, professional hobo, theater man; who lives in Berkley, California.

It all started when he was asked by a friend if he wanted a free ticket to the game. He'd never been to an NBA game, sorta sounded nice.

Leon has driven an old beat up vw bus for years and on this day he entered the parking lot after forking over 15.00 dollars for the space. A steep price, but he had free tickets and this was going to be an adventure.

A man in the lot approached and asked if he wanted to be in a contest.

"What sort of contest?" Leon asked.

"An ugly vehicle contest and the prize is a new car!".

"Okay" Leon said. He stepped out of the van and a photograph was taken of him leaning up against it. Later in the game, the entire audience would see this picture flash on the big screen among several other 'ugly vehicles and owners'.

'Leon from Berkley' got the big votes for ugliest vehicle that night, and became a finalist. This meant he had free tickets for another game with a chance to win a new car.

So he came back with 29 other finalists and sat up in the 'nose bleed section' with them. They each recieved a key and only three of them would 'work' when tested on a mock lock.

Out of the thirty keys, Leon's worked.

The three finalists were to shoot some baskets at half time in front of 6000 people. A lay up, a free throw and a three pointer. Each successive successful shot offered a bigger new car.

Small, medium and large.

The risk was in knowing when to stop at the basket throwing.

He decided to 'go for it' and shoot all three. He released his tight emotional grip on the outcome and relaxed. This was fun, it seemed divinely guided. What ever happened now, this was all good.

He did it. Got the three pointer! Six thousand people cheering and suddenly he was being hoisted in the air for a victory march around the court.

The camera showed his perplexed face under a baseball cap on the 'big screen' and on national tv as he was cheered at like a hero.

People asked him if he played basketball.

"No, I juggle" He said. "But my dad and brother are basketball coaches".

He now has a new toyota truck, paid for. A gift!

He wakes himself up laughing lately, it's like an awesome dream which has materialized suddenly!

He still isn't sure if he's happiest about making a three pointer in the middle of an NBA game or winning the truck (smile).

What is YOUR biggest dream?

It can happen to you, too.
