Ways To Respite

Peace of mind is vital. Without needed breaks in life-drama's our mental energies & nerves snap and break. Worry is bad for a body! Constant worry over something beyond control is even worse.

If a work schedule consumes too many waking moments with the only free time spent recovering the body just to go back to work - it's so important to find ways to create peace of mind.

Number one: Commitment to a portion of time each week for mind, soul & body  HEALTH building activities. A dedicated focus, starting with ONE HOUR A WEEK-

: (these 60 minutes plant magic seeds to soothe your life & help you learn to create more quality time with loved ones).

Two Rules:

1- Keep a promise to yourself to DO IT.

2- NO worry while you do it.

Suggested ONE HOUR activities:

A sea salt bath with candles and music, self  foot massage w/sesame oils (olive, rosemary etc.) & a tall glass of pure distilled water to complete the detox process.

(Cleansing negative energy, heals nerves, detoxes pores and skin, assists with purifying blood and organs, esp kidneys)

Long stroll in a place of choice with or without a dog, camara & journal with favorite pen on hand in case of inspiration and for when you want to pause. Cup of favorite hot herb tea beverage waiting @ home, for the end of your journey.

(Inner massage, toning, beauty therapy, self nurturance of your natural creative force & detox organs & blood with herb tea.)

A bed loaded with soft, warm blankets and cozy pillows, an interesting book like Mists Of Avalon or thriller crime novel; your favorite comfort food (popcorn, piece of cheese cake . . . )door closed with 'Do Not Disturb' sign up.

(Soothing rest! Permission to be lazy and relax with yourself and good sensations.)

A workshop about something 'far out' and interesting at a local bookstore. JUST FOR YOU to have FUN!

(Awakens the inner child and steers you back toward your REAL purpose in life!)

These are suggestions for the busy worrier. For deeper soul, mind & body detox you can choose a special cleansing diet for a short time with included retreat and meditation. Book a camping trip right on the beach in a state park, or travel out of your familiar comfort zones for a two day quiet time with yourself.

The point is, RETREAT ALONE for a small portion of time each week, at least. Not to bite your nails . . . & worry- as you do this quite well all alone, all the time lol.

But to be purposefully positive & GET IN TO YOURSELF.

Remember, the worry will be here, waiting for you to feel bad again- as soon as you're done.

It won't be going anywhere!

You are simply learning to step OUT of your drama for a sixty minute time slot, to look at your life as a soul would from heaven . . . with a bird's eye view -from a distance and above.

So when you step back in to WORRY, you'll see things with refreshed & new eyes and emotions, if ony for a moment.

Which is worth it.

(*a little secret: this is a first step - to begin the process of ditching the 'worry bug' and creating a magical life once and for all. But only if you WANT to. Never fear, you can hold on to the drama and negativity all you want. To escape for a short time . . . well,

Some folks resist this. To become purposefully positive with segments of time, because they fear their problems will explode and run randomly out of control the moment they take their minds away!

It's true, it's a very popular fear; but you CAN return to the pain & worry. Yes! & unless you want it to be the same or worse after your return, the results of respites are most often  . . . . improvement- rather than explosion. Promise :)

Light!

Great! I wrote it because it appears that all summer I'll be doing it, too. Last week I camped at a fun state park. Next week it's two more nights on the beach at another state park and the week after . . . another! I'm keeping my car stocked with tent and supplies all summer and going to a different nature setting all summer! It's my way of making up for a long michigan winter and finding my CORE again. I look back to notice all the wasted money and time I've spent on things I regret, when I could have been more actively having great moments! My schedule allows so this is the time!! :)

Dear Fawn:

My sister who had 6 kids used to tell me "never worry about anything you cannot change right now" and she lived her life like that.  I would see sitting in the middle of the floor with a book while her kids created mayhem around her and she would just smile at them and go on reading!  She did what she had to do when she had to do it period!  I think that is a good philosophy but it is hard for me to adhere to it for I find myself taking on everyone's worries without much effort also.
Thanks for sharing this for it is very timely this weekend.

Fawn these are fabulous suggestions. With my imagination, I took my time reading them and enjoyed each one like I was there right NOW. :) I am soooo glad Keen has blogs now!
