Dream Symbols - Colours

We all dream in colour, unless you're having some sort of retro Casablanca dream. But if your dream is mostly featuring a single colour, what does it mean?

First, remember that while culture "teaches us" that colors have meanings, your own life may have strong lessons of its own. For example, culture teaches us that white is the colour of the bride, the colour of joy, purity, a fresh life and clean slate. But if in your life a cruel neighbor always wore white, white to you might symbolize cruelty and pain.

So look at these colour meanings as a guideline, but also sit back and close your eyes, and just think about what a colour means to YOU. That is always the most important connection for a dream symbol.

Red
Red is a colour of power. It is most associated with passion and love, as in red roses or sexy red dresses. Kissable red lips and a glass of red wine for toasting, red strawberries and raspberries on a plate. Negative - blood, corruption

Orange
Orange is an unusual colour, a colour of fire, of tropical fruits and island sunsets. This colour represents adventure, change, unusual situations. Negative - an unwanted change.

Yellow
Yellow is a bright, happy colour, the color of sunshine, of daffodils and buttercups. It represents joy, fun, laughing out loud. Negative - illness, as in jaundice and yellow skin.

Green
Green is the traditional colour of growing things, of fertility, of fresh young plants and fresh grass. It also represents wealth and money. Negative - greed, green with envy.

Blue
Blue is the colour of great expanses - the deep blue sea, the wide blue sky. It represents peace and harmony, of patience. Negative - Sadness, the blues.

Purple
Purple is a spiritual colour, representing spirituality, religion, self belief, self empowerment. Negative - Sadness.

Brown
Brown is a rich, earthy colour, the colour of fertile soil to grow vegetables in. The colour of chocolate and tall trees and acorns. It is a colour of solid dependability. Negative - Dullness.

Black
Black is a colour that has many meanings. To some it means death and destruction, the lack of all. To others it means the comfort of night, the warmth of a snuggly black blanket that keeps you safe. Black is definitely a colour that you need to look within yourself to find how you react to this colour.

White
White is equally a colour that has unique meanings to each person. While many may feel it represents the fresh, innocent bride, the brand new baby, the dawn of a new day, white can also be the impersonal hospital, the cruel, harsh teacher, the white expanse of a harsh desert.

Pink
Pink is the traditional colour of baby girls - and has come to mean creatures that are helpless and cute. Some women have turned the colour around and use hot pink as a power colour - that they are strong females and have a powerful feminine force within them that cannot be stopped!
