Hi Everyone.

I have been reading pets for over ten years now and would love to help anyone who has issues concerning their pet. A bit of background on me you should know.  Since I was a child, I could read animals and of course brought every stray home trying to convince my parents we needed to save them.  This did not always work so I did what I could. When I began reading pets for people, I would find, especially with dogs, that most dogs did not understand why their beloved owners did not understand them.

So I felt the need to go further into understanding dogs on a psychological level which lead me to finding a trainer that taught K9's or as most people know as Police , Search and Rescue, Cadaver, and service dogs. I studied for over 2 years learning the behavior and thought process of K9's.

I now realize why dogs don't understand humans as much as we like them too.   Dogs think much different than humans.   Dogs live in the moment and don't worry about what happened in the past, or worry about the future.  Also, K9's think a little differently than regular pets.  A pet is just happy to have a home and just laze around the house eat, play with their owners and of course sleep.  The difference is that K9's truly need a job and have a life purpose similar to humans.

The difference between a pet and a K9 is basically their prey drive which leads back to their primitive DNA factor. I find that most people who have uncontrollable dogs are those that  truly have a high prey drive and just want a job no matter how small.  In essence, they need a sense of purpose. When I get a call from a person who is frustrated that their dog will not listen or obey, I find that the owner does not understand the energy of their animal.  I then do what most people refer to as the “Dog Whisperer”.  This is the process in which I teach the owner of how a dog thinks and so that they can become one with the energy of the dog.

Dogs have a natural order in a pack whether it is in the wild or at home. Someone has to be either an Alpha or Pack Leader.  This role needs to be the person in a domestic situation. The rest of the family then follows the progression downward.  The dog must be at the bottom so that no one is hurt and so that the dog will listen to everyone in the family.  If we do not have this order in place, we do not have a happy dog or family.

Some additional history one should know about the natural habits of dogs is their daily routine.  Once a dog awakens, they empty their bowel as humans do.  They then go for a walk in the wild until  it is lunch time.  Dogs, however, do not eat.  They play, take a nap then once the nap is over they take another walk until it is dinner time.  It is then they find wild prey kill it and then eat. In a domestic situation it is  wake up, empty bowel , walk, come in, play, nap, and then go for another walk and then eat dinner. Dogs only eat once a day with the exception of puppies that eats twice a day once in the morning and at dinner time.

I find most people over feed their dogs and do not run their dogs twice a day as needed. This then leads to unhealthy and unhappy dogs that tend to get themselves into trouble from boredom. Another mistake most people make is letting their dogs walk in front of them not beside them or behind them. When you allow your pet to walk in front of you , you are telling them that they are the pack leader and have all the control which we all know leads to numerous issues such as dog attacks, aggressiveness, and just not obeying a command because in your pet’s eye, they are in command.

The solutions to avoid these problems is first, get rid of the retractable leash, second, use a shorter and straight leash and always make sure your dog is either beside you or behind you while walking.  This lets the dog know that you are the pack leader and will obey you and ignore other dogs which could lead to all sorts of issues like dog against dog aggression, people attacks, and other behavioral issues. Then there are always puppy questions which that I would be happy to address.  The questions range from potty training to teething .

Knowing if your dog has a high prey drive could change your way of training your new baby.  One important thing I should inform you on with your puppy is to understand that for every month of a puppy’s life he has a one minute attention span.  So if you bring home your puppy at 8 weeks, they would have an attention span of two minutes.

I hope the information I have provided you with my first blog on dogs gives you much insight.  If you have an issues you would like to know about your lovely pet ,please feel free to comment on my blog and I will answer all your questions so that we can all have a happy and friendly home.
