Spotlight

Have you ever noticed how things in a spotlight just seem to have more power?

Can you picture a stage with a spotlight? If you can bring that image up in your mind's eye easily, then you can use the spotlight technique on any part of your life.

Spotlights (any light, in fact) have power. I am sure you have heard about protecting yourself by holding an image in your mind of being in a white light - well, this spotlight on stage image lends itself well to improving a certain aspect of life rather than a general protection.

If you are feeling nervous or unsure about anything, place yourself in the spotlight on the stage in your mind. You deserve to be noticed, respected and listened to. Your words have value, you have value. See yourself in a new light (literally, a spotlight!) and see all the positives about yourself. Turn down the internal critic voice that may try to point out flaws. Only allow the positive, loving voice who will remind you of all of the good that is you right now, you're perfect right now. By holding this image in your mind and really feeling and believing it, the people around you will feel that spotlight and will notice what you notice about yourself. The best parts!

You can use the technique to improve other aspects of your life, too!

So, practice turning on that spotlight!!

but what does one do when after the personal spotlight exercise, some people still focus on your negatives?  even when you do much work on your positives.  how do you handle them?
