Yes today is May 18, 2007 but what happened 27 years ago? Well if you lived in Washington State, Oregon, or Idaho you would know. For those that don't know that day a Volcano blew in Washington State. It was Mt St Helen's that blew her top. It change this whole landscape of the Mountain.
The ash cloud covered three states. In some places the ash was 3 inches deep. I was living in Lewiston Idaho at that time. It was a Sunday. I was sitting listening to America Top 40 on the radio when the news broke. Lewiston is about 500 miles east of the mountain. One inch of ash rained down and turned day into night,
My mom grew tomatoes. We covered them and by the time they were ready to pick they were huge. They grew big from the ash in the soil. It was a bad year for apples and Washington Wines.
