I get this question a lot. When you ask it like "Are we going to get back together?" You're not going to get the answer that you are looking for. The best way is to give me some details like their name and what made you break up. Also I tune into that person not you.
Relationships are a two way street. Both parties should want to the same thing so your way doesn't work.
The best way to question is to "Does (name) want to get back with me?" Also if the break up caused by something they did. You should ask "Will (name) do the same thing if we get back together?"
