Animal Angels in Our Life
When Sue's friend died she was sick with grief. A bedraggled homeless dog was hanging around the neighborhood. As if two soul mates, they connected immediatly on her way to and from work. Soon the dog was eating oatmeal in her kitchen, which led to an instant love and deep understanding. What silent sonar message brought these two together?
The Spiritual Message of Animals In Our Lives
ANGELS
Remember the story of Howard Hughes sitting on a curb dirty and lonely, in the ravages of mental illness? The story goes he was given help by a stranger and never forgot it. In Howard’s Will he left this stranger millions of dollars.
Angels can come matted, tangled, dirty, and ugly. They do not need to have a glow around them. Angels can come to YOU in need. It’s what happens afterwards when you have offered kindness that brings change to your life.
Animal Angels are messengers that test and offer us peace through the choice of caring for them, instead of the other way around. I have come to believe that when a new animal enters my life, I must pay attention. There is a new chapter coming, or a silent message to pay attention to.
ABUSING ANIMAL ANGELS
For those that choose to personify their spiritual process through animals of violent intent, there are animals willingly {and unwillingly} ready to oblige.
We give credit to spiritual figures for putting their lives on the stake for us. Perhaps for the spiritually violent, their angels come in the form of the very animals they fight to death in rings or torture. Perhaps their exposure in the news means its time for these people to release their demons. They are given the chance to be “saved" through the persecution or neglect of their own animals. The rest is up to them.
LIFE STYLE & ANIMAL ANGELS
I think of how Panama, my son's dog of the 70’s….part German Sheppard….part Basset Hound…..so represented and fit into the organic dimension of our lives. My hubby and I shunned our up bringings to live in an old house in the country. It was beautiful to us. In short, we also were a mixture of pure bred German Sheppard and Basset Hound humbleness. Our Angel Dog personified who we were, gave wittness to our daily life and choices. He cared for our farm as a guardian in floppy ears, short legs and a German Sheppard body. When he got hit by a car, our pretty marriage also changed.
DIVORSE & ANIMAL ANGELS
When my first husband and I began to fight incessantly amidst the agitation of alcohol and absence, “Rebel” came into my life. He was a wild dog, and against all odds he allowed me to tame him into a lamb. A huge, intimidating Collie/ St Bernard mix dog, he came briefly into our lives. One day he lay still in our driveway, with no wounds or signs of poisening. Why did I name him “Rebel”? All I know is after he died I packed up and left my struggling marriage. My Animal Angel came as a brief signal that my son and I did not have to live in tears and grief. Rebel showed me if I could tame him, life on my own could be just as easy.
ANIMAL DREAMS & ANIMAL ANGELS
When my father died of Cancer I was crippled with grief. I left the experience half of what I was. One sleepless night I had a dream. I was driving my car on a country road and saw a tired, ragged deer struggling to keep up with my car. The deer looked in at me with my fathers blue eyes. Petrified, I kept driving. Suddenly the deer jumped over my car as if overcome with super strength. His fur gleamed with good health; tall majestic antlers on his head loomed across the sky, and with one last look back at me, disappeared into the woods. I woke up feeling as if I had communed with my father. He was saying, “Its ok Ann. I’m 1000 times stronger now.” From that dream on I was ok.
LONELINESS & ANIMAL ANGELS
Sometimes to save a lost abused animal, heals our own life. My mother was going through an extremely hard time when my step father died. She had spent years caring for him during sickness. During this time kittens were born under the foundation of the house across the street from me. One of the more gentle kittens I named “Chi” after good energy. I told my mother she needed a cat. Why did she decide to drive 1000 miles to get her? Her little Angel messenger had come. Chi is an ingrained part of Mom’s life now.
Whether they are short or long lived, animals will teach us a silent lesson. Some live and suffer with our neglect. Either way, what we name them often matches the chapter they are in our lives. If we pay attention, we will see they become an adopted child or a kicking block for our personal hostilities. It’s up to us to pay attention to which part of our lives they are in. Spirit speaks through our Animal Angels.
This is an exerpt from my new book due to be out next Spring. Many of the animal stories I have submitted in my blogs are previews of what they can expect. Love, Ann Marie
