Cabin Fever, Keen & Pajama Readings
It’s autumn and the clay pots have been set into garden corners for the Prairie Winter, house plants brought inside, and my Hobbit Dome, retired from the Renaissance fair, lies in wadded folds on the garage floor. Outside, my Marie Antoinette sculpture stands in the Java garden. She will come inside out of the cold and amaze clients at my studio as they enter the door. I will be sure and cover her with twinkling white Christmas lights. The cats, one by one, have come inside and sit beside me on the couch as I take Psychic calls. The black adopted Cocker Spaniel, abandoned by his pack, {my precious soul mates} lies beside me opposite the cats. The death of his old pack, my summer loss, has been his blessing.
Outside I watch the snow cover the graves of my dogs at the base of the Maple tree. Carved into a circle of wolves, its "purpose" has become a reality this summer. The end of “Chinook” and “Jazz” becomes an era purified in a mantle of white. What a sad, challenging and yet, joyful summer it has been. I await 2009 in the comfy yet imprisoning prison of a Prairie winter taking Keen calls in my morning pajamas. The Coffee pot is on.
My soul mate dogs, Chinook & Jazz, both passed this summer. Now they are buried at the base of this 12 foot Maple Tree stump sculpture The snow blankets their graves.
