SISTER OTHELIA'S LETTER TO HILLARY CLINTEN

Dear Hillary,   I saw you last night at the fire station in our small town of  Iowa.   One of our boys had been sent home dead from Afghanistan to his parents in a box.  You spoke to us the day after his funeral..

I am a 56 yr old independent with no party at all.  I honor the earth; do my part to contribute, and have an open mind.  I live with a die hard Republican husband from a die hard American Navy Service family.  They believe Honor is akin to religious faith, and that even when wrong you support your Republican President.  They also feel that way about their NASCAR hero.

I came to see you numb.  Being an Iowan I have seen all the candidates up close and shaken their hands.

I left O Bama feeling passionate and hopeful.

I left Joe Bidden confused.

I left John Edwards disappointed. {But loved Elizabeth}

And then there was you.

The fire station was full of T.V. cameras from all over the United States.

The back row seats were filled with newspaper reporters and lap tops ready to type your every word.

One bright red antique fire truck remained inside the station, packed with kids ready to see a historical moment.  The room was filled to the brim.

I remembered how you looked like someone I would want to have coffee with, regal, earthy, pretty and “REAL”.   You took our questions.

The first question asked of you was:

  • “WHO WILL TAKE CARE OF THE DECAYING SEWER SYSTOMS, BRIDGES AND ROADS OF OUR AGING TOWNS?”

You told us when bridges start to fall as in Minnesota, and town infrastructure crumbles from age, the National toll will be monumental if we do not attend to the problem NOW.  You told us that other world countries are tending to this silent scream….and America needs to also.  What good are we to the rest of the world rebuilding THEIR infrastructures, if our OWN TOWNS decay and crumble as we speak?

An elderly man that attended the dead soldier boy’s funeral the day before spoke:

  • I ATTENDED THE DEAD SOLDIERS FUNERAL YESTERDAY, AND AMONGST THE MANY SERVICE MEN THERE THE SAME QUESTION WAS ASKED:  WHERE’S OUR VETERINS HOSPITAL CARE WHEN WE NEED THEM?”

You told us that Bush has gradually given less to the soldiers fighting his war in Iraq, and more to his personal agendas.   You proved to us that this was another silent scream….”Where is our country’s compassion to heal us, when post traumatic head injury, amputation and disfigurement are the result of patriotic service?   Where are the benefits promised to our brave soldiers?”

You said this was another reason you would take us out of this war when in office to lead as President.

A woman in a wheel chair came forward.   She asked of you,

“MY BODY IS BROKEN.  WHEN WILL PEOPLE LIKE ME BE GIVEN THE BENEFITS THAT STEM CELL RESEARCH CAN PROMISE FOR HEALING?”

You were compassionate for her.  The room was still enough to hear a pin drop.  You told her you understood how frustrating it must be for her that the research had been held off.  If you were in office you would assure that the most advanced forms of stem cell research be allowed to continue.   So many advancements and not enough money to research stem cell research is yet another block in the path from the Bush Administration.

These were just a few of the questions answered.  I left feeling so much stronger about you Hillary.  The numbness was gone.   I shook your hand and told you I was the daughter of one of your teachers at Main East High.   My father bragged about a brilliant young girl where he taught, and I like to think he was speaking of you.

The following is why I have decided to vote for you now Hillary:

  • You are a REAL person addressing REAL issues
  • Your presence is magical, and I saw the room go from laughter, to tears to shouting.   That takes passion.
  • You are warm. {I came expecting a cold turkey.}
  • I forgot Bill Clinton existed once I saw and heard YOUR essence.

{This is important as I did not want to see a wife filling a husband’s agenda}.

  • Your message spoke highly of wind power and alternative fuel source.
  • My intellect was satisfied, my heart warmed and my soul inspired

Thanks for giving me my presidential choice.  It will be you.   I have shaken hands with all candidates in Iowa.  You are the one most needed for the reality and truth of rebuilding America.

Yup, she's a politician, all right. Says what she needs to say when the time is appropriate. Blessings to you that you've had your mind made up. I sure don't. Maybe if I had the opportunity to be in the same room with the candidates, instead of watching them on T.V., I, too, would feel differently.

I Believe that Mrs Clinton is the right women for the job as it has been told that a women is ment to lead The United States out of the mess that its been in for a very long time. We all have a choice and can vote for whom ever we choose, but when you look back and see that she never runs from a fight and could have. she could have sliped away with her head hung low  but she instead chose to move ahead with her life and her head held high and she came threw the darkest part of her life with a light for all those she incounters    Its time for a women to run this country

I am a non- partisan life long resident from Little Rock, Arkansas and I want to tell you BEWARE. The Clintons are always on their own agenda and they have charm immeasurable but little follow through. Billary did not do what she said she could or would do for American Health care during her husband's terms in office. She is abrasive and above reproach and I think that we will bring anymousity from the middle east UNFATHOMABLE if she were to be in the office of president. We do not need a WOMAN in office, we need a GOOD PERSON. Man or woman I don't care, just someone working in the light. Maybe she is the right candidate, I don't know. I can tell you this, I have liked almost every senator, rep and political figure I have met in person after many years at the front desk in a prominent LR hotel. They all know how to charm. But don't let the fact that she has ovaries be what connects you. The sex stereotypes have to GO!!! Follow your convictions and heart but know she has her corrupt politician side just like any male she might be compared to. Many, many prayers and blessings to all of you.

I do not believe for one minute  that America is ready for a woman, black, or mormon president. Sorry, WAY behind Europe, I do not speak opinions here, I speak FACTS..

Whether we want to admit it or not; we have never been more divided as a country on several issues and we are tired all tired of the p'ssing contests the good ole' boys seem to get into with our money, and we are tired of being manipulated.

If the things about oil, the backbone of our economy, just say so, JEEZ, stop pulling on our heartstrings with bogus stories already or playing on our worst fears like "Anthrax attacks."

As Lee Iacocca said, we have no more true leaders, what we have had for years are "managers"...which explains why no one has impressed us all that much...they are lacking in character and integrity, which has become almost obsolete.

People these days are too afraid to go out on that limb to do what's best for this country instead of their own personal gain, from both parties; largely related to the influence of lobbyists for organizations and corporations in exchange for votes.

It's a sad state of affairs when you shrug your shoulders and say, "Well, that one seems the best out of that crooked bunch," lol...but that's what we've been reduced to.

Having said that, I believe Hillary Clinton is the "best out of the bunch"...

There comes a time when we have to streamline our goals, rule out more frivolous personal-stance issues, look at each other, and go...

"Excuse me...what exactly are we trying to do, here, anyway?  Are we building something for everybody as a team or destroying and neglecting things in a conquest to win?  If it is to build, be honest about it whom is it for, why, and will it EVER trickle down from that little oligarchy on anyone else?"

Right now, it seems the only people benefiting are the oil companies; domestic issues are being sorely neglected.

It's time for a stronger domestic policy; we need to strengthen our OWN ties and feel like a team again...bring back our faith in ourselves and each other. However, like Joan, I'm afraid there are still too many from the old school to ever let that happen...but we can dream, can't we?

All in all, I'M excited you got to hear any of them speak, but especially the best example we have available of what women can accomplish that we only dreamed of years ago, regardless of whether or not she wins.

Look for my daughter in 2031?;)

Well said Akaincognito!  I am in total agreement.  I know that I will vote for Hillary this time and I believe Obama will be her running mate.  He makes me have hope for mankind.  However having said that I am so very tired of this administration and how they have chipped away at our personal rights that I am anxious for any kind of change.  I am a proud supporter of women who are in politics for I feel we definitely need the balance.  It is time for the pendulum to swing back to center now and we are in for many changes in the political arena in the future.  Personally I am looking forward to the change.

I am a Hillary fan and I am going to vote for her.  She has her head on straight and I like her  willingness to make some changes.  I think Obama is great also but he will not get elected as president so I am hoping he will run as vice president then we will have a team in office we can be proud of again.

It is interesting to see how people think.
Please know, those that have warned me to distrust Hillary...I too felt as you. I was numb....I believed the TV's that she was cold,  .....Calculating....I have no party.

Seeing Hillary in person is a WHOLE DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE.  You realize how many very threatened people there are out there.

Calculating?
...isn't that the same as a strategist?  I think I want that in a President!  With out foresight and a plan, you have no business running......

Her own agenda?..........
You honestly believe there is one politician out there that does not want to win?

Seeing Hillary in person makes you realize THIS LADY could do just fine with or without Bill.

I have never heard any one object to the Statue of Liberty.   I`m wondering why on earth would we not be ready for a President to match our national Emblem?   She is past Hormonal Imbalance....past PMS or Menopause.  She is in her wise years.

think what you want.   I saw an Eagle in this woman.   I went to feel her "essence".....and was pleasantly AMAZED.

I live in Iowa.  I have seen each future president speak in person.

My job is to feel for the truth...as well as lies.

I think it's time for youth and vitality to run this country. If it wasn't for the youth in the 60's we wouldn't have change today. We would still have Jim Crow laws and the old fashion necular family ideas.

I hope people start to put race and sex aside and go for the canadiate who will make a strong effort to mend this country.

I'm tired of seeing myself and my peers struggling just to make a decent living. The middle class is now disapearing into the working/low class due to this economy.

We all want change and there is enough in this universe for all people to have something. Once we are given a fair opportunity it will then be our choice if we want the best in our lives.

It is 2011.  I have gone back to read all the comments about Hillary before President Obama was elected.  Since then the Tea Party has toted signs against Public Health, Rush Limbaugh has sworn to tear Barrack Obama down and never respect him.

Suddenly the Republican party is filled with color.  Despite the economy rising, more jobs the Republicans, including people of color,  blame President Obama.  WHO EVER WOULD BE IN OFFICE IN THIS GOD AWFUL WALL STREET CRASH TIME WOULD BE HATED.  It was a given.  Hillary has been saved by not becoming the president with a face seldom seen yet sharing her wisdom and calm internationally.

Meanwhile Japan totes nuclear crisis, a mega earth quake, and Madison and Michigan are up in arms as the Republicans scream for govt cut backs and unions to end.
