When Grandma is a Psychic
Being a Psychic Grandma is not easy for a daughter in law. We represent the side of life, often, that practical mothers try to convince their children does not "really" exist.
When my son moved to Japan, and blessed my life with a Japanese wife and 2 beloved grandchildren, I imagined I would be close by all the time. My son was raised in the 70's and a product of my free spiritued life style. Of course he rebelled to suits and ties! I was given explicit instructions when my sterilized grandchildren came for a visit.
"Mom, we love you, but don't let the kids play in the dirt and for Gods sake do not let their clothing get grass stained. I truly tried to think sterile. I am a creature of Mother Nature, and felt the children needed to feel the grass beneath their feet. So to my sons horror, on arriving back from their date to the movies, there was Grandma rolling in the grass with laughing grandchildren.
"MOM! WHAT DID WE SAY?!" ...........Embarrassed, I picked Devin and Naomi up, reassembled our clothing and hair, and red faced said, "I love you."
Being a Phone Advisor Grandmother is not easy when ones 6 yr old granddaughter watches intently as Grandma reads for work. It can be an interesting crisis when grandchildren arrive home to parents after 2 weeks vacation with Grandma, animals, parks, fairy gardens, .......pretending to channel Tarot Cards on the family phone.
And so I share this picture of my Grand Children looking at the camera in Eugene Organ like, "Isn't Grandma crazy?" Grandma is fantasizing she is a Goddess in a chariot sailing away with magical Grandchildren in veils of cosmic stars.
It’s not easy being a family with a Psychic Grandma, but we hope as readers it will be a memorable experience for our Grand Children.
