Every month the Moon travels in her orbit completely around the Earth. The New and Full Moons happen as the Sun aligns with the moon, either in conjunction or opposition to the Sun. An eclipse of the Moon (or Lunar Eclipse) can only occur at a Full Moon when the Earth, Sun and Moon are all in alignment (when the Moon is in opposition to the Sun) and only if the Moon passes through some portion of the Earth’s shadow. When similarly aligned at a New Moon, the body of the Moon passes between the Earth and Sun producing a Solar Eclipse by hiding the face of the Sun from the Earth. Solar Eclipses can occur without an accompanying Lunar Eclipse, but there can never be a Lunar Eclipse without an accompanying Solar Eclipse.
On August 28, 2007 a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse will occur as the Moon passes through the constellation of Pisces. At exactly 6:35am the Sun will be moving opposite the Moon through the constellation of Virgo at 4º46’. The Earth will be at exactly the same degree in Virgo blocking the light of the Sun to the Moon as it falls in direct alignment at 4º46’ with the Sun and Moon.
Earthlings tend to be more emotionally expressive during a Full Moon. A Lunar Eclipse, occuring as it does during a Full Moon, emphasizes this emotional reaction. Psychic sensitivity, spiritual instincts and emotional connectedness are aroused by this eclipse as the environment becomes a little unstable. Creative and artistic qualities will be discovered. This unstable environment occurs because, as with all eclipses, there is change in the electromagnetic energy that affects us neurologically and therefore, mentally. There will be some stress initially as blockages in many parts of our lives will begin to crumble, and then there will be a feeling of freedom.
This Full Moon in Pisces is full of realistic dreams, but as the Earth moves through practical Virgo we are reminded to stop floating on the surface of possibilities and select one project we can act on. You will be forced to cut out the distraction of fantasies that can never come true and discard impractical methods and ideas. Now is the time to plant a seed of commitment for your future. If some of this realization comes in the form of changes you are not expecting, remember that shock is good for the soul and a reminder of your humanness.
All Full Moons bring matters to fulfillment as the cosmic light shines brighter to show us things we need to see. At the very least, a phase of our life ends and a new one begins.
