Every month the Moon travels in her orbit completely around the Earth. Every month we have a ‘Full Moon’, when the Moon opposes the Sun. Approximately every six months we have a Lunar Eclipse.
A Lunar Eclipse is when the shadow of the Moon is on the Earth. It occurs only when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned with the Earth in the middle, when the Moon is on the far side of the Earth from the Sun: when there is a Full Moon. Unlike a Solar Eclipse, a Lunar Eclipse can be observed from nearly an entire hemisphere and is completely safe to watch with the naked eye. Protective filters are not necessary and neither is a telescope. A pair of binoculars will magnify the view making the red coloration brighter and easier to see. The moon looks red because while the Moon remains completely within Earth's umbral shadow, indirect sunlight still manages to reach and illuminate it. However, this sun- light must first pass deep through the Earth's atmosphere which filters out most of the blue colored light. The remaining light is a deep red or orange in color and is much dimmer than pure white sunlight and are powerful ‘course correctors’ meant to change your life.
This month’s eclipse is a partial lunar eclipse that will take place on July 7 Full Moon Lunar Eclipse will occur as the Moon passes through the constellation of Capricorn at 15º24’. At exactly 5:21am the Sun will be moving opposite the Moon through the constellation of Cancer at 15º24’. The Earth will be at exactly the same degree in Cancer blocking the light of the Sun to the Moon as it falls in direct alignment at 15º24’ with the Sun and Moon. Generally, Earthlings tend to be more emotionally expressive during a Full Moon. A Lunar Eclipse emphasizes this emotional reaction!! Psychic sensitivity, spiritual instincts and emotional connectedness are aroused by a Lunar eclipse as the environment becomes a little unstable. This unstable environment occurs because there is change in the electromagnetic energy that affects us mentally and neurologically. There will be some stress as blockages will begin to crumble and then there will be a feeling of freedom. The good news is that creative and artistic qualities will be discovered as you let go of beliefs that don’t correspond with your current reality!! Outdated ideals or dreams may need to be discarded, which can be painful but necessary. You experience an awakening (emotional and spiritual) to today’s truths as the clutter is cleared away and the present is seen in a new light. You redefine your personality and your image!! And, a new hairdo and new clothes may result!!
This Lunar Eclipse in strong, steady Capricorn chips away at emotional defenses revealing gentler ways to manage daily life. You are forced to address personal issues which may reveal insecurities. Fortunately, there is a nice aspect to Saturn (a Trine) at the time of this eclipse and this will provide support as you release old ways of thinking and living to create a stronger you. You will see the need to create new rules for yourself as you drop those that no longer serve your needs. Keep in mind, as you go through this process, this is all good and part of your pattern of growth as you are forced to finally drum up the courage make necessary life corrections!!
