Lunar Eclipse in Virgo February 20, 2008

February 21, 2008 1º Virgo 53’ 3:27am

Every month the Moon travels in her orbit completely around the Earth. The three dimensional reality of our universe comes alive in a graceful celestial ballet as the Moon swings through the Earth's shadow and this is a Lunar Eclipse.

This can occur only when the Sun, Earth, and Moon are aligned with the Earth in the middle, when the Moon is on the far side of the Earth from the Sun. Or, when there is a Full Moon. The type and length of an eclipse depend upon the Moon's location relative to its orbital nodes. Unlike a Solar Eclipse, a Lunar Eclipse can be observed from nearly an entire hemisphere.

There are three types of lunar eclipses: penumbral, when the Moon crosses only the Earth's penumbra; partial, when the Moon crosses partially into the Earth's urbra; and total, when the Moon crosses entirely within the Earth's umbra. Total Lunar Eclipses pass through all three phases. Unlike Solar Eclipses, Lunar Eclipses are completely safe to watch. Protective filters are not necessary and neither is a telescope. A Lunar Eclipse can be observed with nothing more than the naked eye. A pair of binoculars will magnify the view, make the red coloration brighter and easier to see.

On February 21, 2008 a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse will occur as the Moon passes through the constellation of  Virgo. At exactly 3:27am the Sun will be moving opposite the Moon through the constellation of Pisces 1º53’. The Earth will be at exactly the same degree in Pisces blocking the light of the Sun to the Moon as it falls in direct alignment at 1º53’ with the Sun and Moon.

Earthlings tend to be more emotionally expressive during a Full Moon. A Lunar Eclipse emphasizes this emotional reaction!! Psychic sensitivity, spiritual instincts and emotional connectedness are aroused by this eclipse as the environment becomes a little unstable. Creative and artistic qualities will be discovered. This unstable environment occurs because there is change in the electromagnetic energy that affects us neurologically and mentally. There will be some stress initially as blockages in many parts of our lives will begin to crumble and then there will be a feeling of freedom.

This Full Moon is full of promise and opportunity.  All Full Moons bring matters to fulfillment as the cosmic light shines brighter to show us things we need to see.  Eclipses always mean crises. Now, crisis is not necessarily a bad thing. At the very least, a phase of our life ends and a new one begins. Whatever part of your life is not in sync with your true life’s purpose will show the most change. However, wherever an eclipse falls in your chart is an area of your life that is going to undergo some change or at least require more of your time and attention than usual for the next five months or so months or so. Hope for clear skies, dress warmly and enjoy the show!

Solar Eclipses are far more important the Lunar Eclipses. The house where the Solar Eclipse falls in your chart will be the main focus of crisis for the next five months. The house where the Lunar Eclipse falls (usually the opposite house) will be a secondary area of crisis. But, remember, this is all good and part of your pattern of growth! ;-)

Enjoy and let me know of any special Eclipse stories you have to tell.  I will be waiting to hear from you this month!  :-)  Toni (SunGoddess78)

Toni, great  posting! The September 11 solar eclipse destroyed me almosts in every aspect of my life. I hope you're right about promise and opportunity, because I do not have more space for crisis. Good luck!

My sun is in Virgo, my moon is in Pisces, and my rising is Sagittarius. I've had some MAJOR changes in my life since these Virgo-Pisces eclipses started happening (I think it was in 2006) I'm looking for some information about the kinds of effects that this next one will bring about. Also, I'm wondering if there is a possibility that they may affect me more, since I have my sun in Virgo AND my moon in Pisces.

Thank you, Toni for your information.  I dabble in astrology, however not professionally.  I do know that this is huge for me as on Feb.4th I had transiting Neptune opposite my natal Pluto, exact, then Feb. 10th, my progressed Sun (Pisces)entered the 10th exact, which will be there for the next 30 years AND my progressed Sun went conjunct natal Midheaven, exact.  I'm ended a 29 and a half year life cycle, I am 54 years old, and Feb. 24th my progressed Moon is opposite progressed Mars, exact!  I have a Scorpio Moon, Uranus and Pisces Sun Grand Water Trine, which is actually a double headed kite which next fall when Virgo hits 16 degrees at a certain place in my chart, I will have a Grand Sextile.  I also have Pluto squaring my Moon/Uranus and is directly beneath my ASC, which is in Leo.  Am I in for a ride or what?  I'm terrified and excited all the same. My life appears to be falling apart, as we've gone from riches to rags with foreclosure on THREE homes staring us in the low real estate market and we live in FL.  I am here from where I have been living for 2 years, at one home in SC, living with my soon to be ex husband, while we go through the process of divorce! Source is really rattling my world and I am following Divine Guidance while I hold tight to my faith and try to enjoy the ride!

I felt the energy. Don't know if positive or neg. Mary Beth, I'm sorry for the misfortune. I think this patter will be constant for me until Sept. I'm ready for something GOOOOOOD!!!!
Or perhaps, this is all good and we don't see it yet!
Good luck everyone.

My world was rocked to it's core by a sudden divorce by the 20th eclipse on my birthday.

Interesting article... I don't know much about lunar eclipses, only that I enjoy watching them.
I did just get engaged during the Feb. 20th eclipse after a heart shaped cloud passed through on the Carribean Sea.  I am also a Virgo, and it was interesting to read that the eclipse was in Virgo!  Any suggestions???  Cheers!

On February 13th, when mercury (my planet) was still retrograde, and notice, a day before valentine's, I was also rocked by a sudden divorce. Horrible. I know how it feels Stephen. I went into an emotional rollercoaster, depression, EVERYTHING! On the day of the eclipse, I contacted his lawyer and told him this couldn't be happening. Unfortunately, in our state, one person can divorce you whether the other one wants to or not. Something told me I should wait a few days before signing the paperwork. I asked the lawyer to give me a couple of months and he gave me one month... Well, (it appears) that there will be a reconcilation...
