Consistent Praises.

One of the things I've been noticing lately about the feedback my dear customers have been leaving me is a fairly frequent use of the word "consistent."  So I felt like taking a few moments to reflect on that and let those of you who might not be clear what it means know what I believe is being said.

For one thing, keep in mind that I am one of those readers who does not have difficulty reading for himself.  I am told often by other readers and students that it is nigh impossible for them to read for themselves.  Partly, and they admit, this has to do with not being able to remain objective.  Does that mean they can't remain objective when reading for others - most likely, that isn't a problem.  But in reading for themselves, objectivity goes out the window and in flies wishful thinking - or so they fear.  I don't know for sure, I only know that it is what it sounds like.  So, to get to the point, I read for myself and honestly can't say I have much experience in how other readers perform.  I've only received readings from friends and students of mine, and a few professionals (less than a handful) just on whim.

As I read tarot almost constantly now-a-days (except when I convince myself to leave the house or enjoy something relaxing), and I stay with very specific spreads, every reading for each individual begins to take on the look and feel of a landscape to me.  For instance, one client seems very frequently to receive the Hierophant in her readings - or, well, she did so for quite some time a while ago (this period she seems to be finding other cards repeating in a frequent pattern).  With the colors of the cards in my layouts being what they are, and the meanings and symbols in them generating aires or atmospheres in a collection, a single spread of fifteen cards will actually look like an abstract painting of some sort, a landscape of the environment around them.  And those customers who frequent my services more than once or twice, to me and my eyes it is like watching a set of photographs following someone along on their journey.  I remember somewhat well many times what the previous overall image of the cards was like, and the current spread actually will look somewhat similar just like if we had taken a photo of our location and then four or five minutes later taken another one after we'd walked and talked a few.  Much of that landscape would appear consistent - the foliage should be the same, the sky is the same (unless the weather took an unexpected turn, as it sometimes does), the general architecture of the neighborhood should be consistent... those sort of things.

So what I think my clients are telling me about my level of consistency is that indeed, not only is there what seems like certain cards that like to show up for certain people, but the overall look and feel of the reading stays the same.  It seems that some currents move a little slower than others, and when things do move they often move exactly as forecast in the cards previously divined.

It would seem to me that my cards reflect a Universe that shows integrity; that is, there's consistency.  Now, if only people could be that way.  :)
